Reviewer Comments:
The house is located in the rainforest and despite houses on each side feels very remote. There was minimal information about some important features, such as: no central heat (two space heaters were tucked in next to the bedroom shelves, a digital door lock that required a careful listen to the click or a check of the handle on the outside to make sure the door was locked, a Smart TV and Dish Satellite that really needed some additional instructions on how to switch between the two, and instructions on how to operate the electric fireplaces in the bedrooms. The house is really very nice, clean (except the top of the refrigerator) and modern (minus a dishwasher). The incident that ruined the stay were two gunshots late at night that were close by in the neighborhood. The police were called and did a drive by throughout the area. The called back and said that no one was spotted but suspected that someone was shooting at some wild pigs.An internet search revealed that the pigs indeed are a nuisance and legal to hunt. Not having this info at the time, we no longer felt safe in the house and left a day early. I think that some information regarding the pigs could have mitigated the surprise and fear the gunshots created. It would also have explained the recording of a dog barking each time we drove up to the house (pigs are afraid of dogs). Another suggestion is to add a deadbolt lock that could be turned from inside the house to securely lock the door.
