Musbury: the Axe valley Towards Shute Hill. On the skyline, just visible, is the Stockland communications mast. On the far side of the valley, in mid distance, is the embankment of the Salisbury-Exeter railway at the start of the gradient where the line climbs up the Umborne valley to Honiton. Seen from a point north of the iron age hillfort, Musbury Castle, accessible by public footpath

Musbury: Musbury Castle View from the site of the iron age hillfort, accessible by public footpaths – steeply from the village and more easily from the north, along the ridge. Looking south west to the mouth of the Axe and Seaton Bay. The Romans had a port at Axmouth and this is reputedly where the Fosse Way ended. Axmouth village is hidden by the wooded Hawkdown Hill, the site of a second hillfort. Musbury Castle stands 170m above sea level

View from Pudleylake Road The road briefly crosses the southwest corner of this square, but this view from a gateway on the edge of Ashford Hill Plantation looks right across the square. The valley in the centre carries the tributary of the Axe that flows past Great Trill. The first line of trees on the north side of the valley marks the line of the dismantled Axminster & Lyme Regis Railway. Above the fields is Trinity Hill, in SY3095.

Lovely clean room. Great that you can turn the shower on without having to reach into the shower and get wet. Staff friendly and welcoming. Room clean, nice big bed. But stark decor & bathroom needed updating. Very non-smiling lady was my welcome, but there were other frendlier peops on reception. No room service & no food available after 4.30 except in restauranr which was fullly booked... not my idea of hotel service. Nice pool but ...
