I enjoyed the unique experience Madewood Plantation Mansion offers. We were the only ones staying at the property and being able to tour the mansion prior to dinner served to us by Angie the manager in the once ballroom now dining room was the highlight of my trip to LA. The grounds and history are also a special treat. The period furnishings in the home are beautiful and paintings et al stunning. With that said our stay in the Honeymoon suite in the carriage home lacked basic amenities. A few very simple additions /upgrades would have made this a 5 star experience. All the bedding needs to be updated including the mattress and box spring. Not just cleaned but replaced. The cushions in the patio of the suite are very old and dirty. Towels et all all need updated. This suite also needs a complete remodle but had we had clean , comfortable linens and cushions the need for remodle would have been seen and a part of the charm of the experience. All in all a special experience I will remember fondly.

Man muss Wissen, dass es eine alte Plantage Ist, die damit wirbt, dass der traditionelle Flair und der Eindruck des früheren Lebens nachgestellt wird. Dementsprechend ist das Anwesen eingerichtet und dementsprechend fühlt man sich dort. Für Kultur- und Geschichtsinteressierte ist es sehr empfehlenswert und wunderschön, doch für eine Familie die in ein modern eingerichtetes Hotel möchte, ist es wohl eher nichts. Unser Aufenthalt dort hat sich auf jeden Fall sehr gelohnt und wir würden dort sofort wieder hinfahren.

Expérience inoubliable.
Un moment privilégié dans un endroit unique. On peut évoluer en toute liberté dans toutes les pièces de la maison. Par contre, il y a un effort à faire sur la propreté (tapis, couvre lit tachés) Petite déception, la maison est en cours de rénovation, donc la moitié du RDC est en travaux 😐.

Très bon accueil et excellent dîner aux chandelles le soir mais sans vin dommage ! Petit déjeuner frais, riche et fait maison Toutefois la maison et les chambres mériteraient une petite rénovation ( en particulier le petit cabinet de toilette qui fait office de douche également). Globalement une bonne expérience grâce à l’accueil et au charme de la maison

Madewood is a diamond in the rough. Tucked away by the trees and quiet location is the monument to the integrity to days gone by. While they are going thru some badly needed renovation it still is my favorite place to stay. Would have liked it to be a wine and cheese pre-dinner but instead it was tea. Personal choice of mine to have the wine. Angie is great with the guest making sure every need is met. Dinner and breakfast is divine. Please make a stop here and tell them Susan sent you.

My first time at a plantation.
The plantation was beautiful. The staff was extremely nice and friendly. The food was delicious. We had a great stay, and it was decorated the way I envisioned it would be in the 1800's. It was my birthday and what a great way to spend it!

This is a very nice place
This place can really be recommended. You are staying in an old plantation house and have access to the whole house which has beautiful furniture and athmosphere. In the evening you gather for cheese and wine before dinner (all included) and the owner/host will keep you company. In the morning you will get coffee/tee served in the room before breakfast. No surprise, the house and garden has been used in movies. If you are looking for something special - not the usual hotel - this is the place !! We could compare with other places in the surroundings that were not genuine.
