Avoid the Atlantic House Hotel – Overpriced, Outdated, and Opportunistic
I rarely leave negative reviews and usually praise businesses that go the extra mile. Unfortunately, the Atlantic House Hotel fell far short, and I feel obligated to warn others.
After a red-eye flight from the West Coast, we arrived early and asked if a room was available. It was—but we were told we’d have to pay a $35 early check-in fee, even though the room was clearly ready. I overheard the front desk ask the manager, who gave the nod to charge us. In 70+ years of travel, I’ve never been nickel-and-dimed like this for a room that needed no extra prep.
To add insult to injury, we later learned another early guest wasn’t charged. I don’t appreciate being taken advantage of—how would you feel?
The room itself was small, outdated, and overpriced. Poor lighting made navigating the space at night unsafe, especially when accessing the bathroom. Their so-called “Breakfast on the Go” was more like a kids’ snack pack: coffee, milk, juice, Cheerios, Fruit Loops, bagels, and cream cheese.
Also, return your magnetic key or risk being charged, regardless of whether personal data might still be stored on it.
This place relies solely on its oceanfront location and limited local competition—not on service or value. Shop around. The Atlantic House Hotel is no bargain—it’s a letdown.
