The Bodden is an ideal area for all kinds of water sports and is also very popular with anglers. Only a few kilometers away from Vieregge is the Schaabe, a twelve-kilometer-long spit, which, with its fine sand, is considered one of the most beautiful bathing beaches on Rügen. Opposite Vieregge is the island of Hiddensee, which can be reached by ferry from Schaprode.
