"I was surprised that the 2 cabins we reserved had no running water, I didn't see it on the Expedia description. However, the front desk guy Lucasz was able to give us a fully-furnished apartment for 3 nights, and back to the waterless cabin for 2 nights. The apartment was excellent. The clothes washer was working but the dryer was out-of-order, we had to use a drying rack. "The staff was courteous. The hotel is underresourced. No ice. No real food to eat in Bjorli when it is not ski season. Breakfast bar was excellent. The staff will do anything they can, there just aren’t that many services available. Be prepared going in. To be fair, this was truly the off-season. "

"Driving into Hjelle through the lakeside tunnel was magical. This repurposed schoolhouse was a fantastic place to experience old-world Norwegian living. Loved the nook beds and touches of history. The modern bath and kitchen were integrated well. The property manager was kind and helpful - he let us know when the early snowfall unexpectedly closed down the mountain pass. Was a great site to just relax and enjoy!"
