"The room key I had opened the door to another room! I stayed in room 212, and after a very long day I accidentally went to room 202 and opened up the door and entered the wrong room!
After a moment or two of seeing the room wasn't presented correctly, the actual guest of room 202 opened the door and walked into the room whilst I was standing there. It was just a good job I wasn't in the shower, on the loo or getting dressed.
As you can imagine, the other guest was quite shocked, as was I. I showed him how my key fit his door and I hadn't broken in.
It appears that the room key is actually a master room key, so can fit any door and the same key lock for outside/late night access.
No one came to the room to find out if I was OK, or needed anything.
I'd not stay there again.
It's a shame, as back in the day this must have been quite a lovely hotel, but now has been left in need of modernisation. Yes, the cost per room was quite competitive, but that isn't the point. Safety of guests should always be paramount of importance."
