Relaxing getaway

Loved our stay!

We absolutely loved our stay. The porch was our main hang out all week to eat, drink coffee, talk, play games, and take naps. The few steps to the beach made it even better. Quaint house with a lot of character!

Family of 3 Vacation

Our family stayed at this cute little house right on the beach and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. Everything you could need for your vacation, this house has. Although, most of our time was spent outside on the deck or at the beach! I would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a cozy beach house for your vacation.

Perfect Oasis

I can not recomment this place enough. It was the best vacation our family of 4 has ever taken. The pictures no not do justice to have spectacular the area is. The house was idea for everything we needed. The washer and drier even worked qinderfully. It had all the kitchen amenities that you couls need. I cant wait to go back!!! Loved every minute.

Perfect Getaway

Small pleasures is packed with big abilities to provide the perfect respite for family and friends to gather. Everything we needed was at our fingertips and in the very best working condition. We arrived and immediately felt welcomed and happy to be there. My teenage daughter remarked on how clean it was. We came thousands of miles to be close to the ocean and have time together away from the busy of our lives!!! One of my favorite stays away!!

This place was perfect for my husband and I, we are in our mid 60s and enjoyed the stay, sitting on the deck , watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee, or the sunset with a hot cocoa + something.....we used the second bedroom for our clothes, because the rooms are a little small, but we do that most of the time anyway....so no big deal for us....i just think it could be cleaner, it needs a long deep clean, like light switches, light hardware, inside the oven and id recommend to get some new pans foe the over, we cooked a turkey breat and were looking for a fitting pan, those i saw are disgusting but i bought my own, so other than that we had a wonderful stay.... Thank you very much...

Small pleasures get away

This place was super nice and cozy. My small children and mother enjoyed this so much. The kids quickly pulled the jaws puzzle down to start as soon as we arrived. The views are incredible and the best thing about the house is the deck. We enjoyed every meal and coffee here. The only thing i have to complain about is the shower head leaks (previous post from June states the same ), shower was pretty small but the pressure worked great. The door to get in was very frustrating as we had to work on it more than we should to get in a few times of course both after night walks on beach (that really could use to be fixed). Everything you need to cook and enjoy yourself is included in this rental so overall a nice stay but hopefully the door will get fixed 😀

Wish it was better

I will start this review with something positive. We loved the location. It was right on the beach with its own beach access. That was perfect. Unfortunately, that is all the positive. The place was not clean at all. All the fans were covered in a thick layer of dust as well as the fridge. The bathroom had a heavy pee smell that drifted through the entire house. The shower head was also completely covered in thick green mold and the fixture was very ooze from the wall. The pictures of the patio in the listing are also deceiving. There are no added lights to the porch as listed. The table is also very small compared to the one in the picture. The patio issues were not a huge deal but added to everything else plus we had planned on spending a lot of our time on the patio since the house is very small and the view was nice. And the listing advertised the patio as being a great place to be. I also have pictures of all the issues but there is no way to add them to the review.

Great Property 11/14-11/18

Would highly recommend Small Pleasures as the perfect beach retreat for 1-4 people.....Having said that though, for selfish reasons would prefer this very nice ocean front beach house be kept a secret! Very comfortable, clean house and large deck with part of the deck containing a covered area, so even with a day of rain not a problem.......sat underneath staying comfortable and dry. The kitchen is well equipped whether you want to stay in and cook, or bring food in from any number of restaurants, bakeries, cafes etc., on Oak Island. The inside of the house is nicely appointed with comfortable seating. One bedroom is off the front of the house, and the other is ocean front with the sliding door leading right out onto the covered portion of the deck. I slept in the street side bedroom and was very content......love the neon wave art up on the wall! Ample parking on the street side, could easily fit up to three vehicles with one vehicle parked on the concrete slab under the house. James the property manager was there we arrived and enjoyed spending some time speaking with him. Provided with a "welcome" bag containing bottles of water, a roll of paper towels, two rolls of toilet paper, garbage bag, dish sponge, detergent for a single use of the dishwasher and washing machine, and a bag containing local granola. This was unexpected and much appreciated. Hand soap along with liquid dish washing detergent was on the kitchen sink. Easy access in/out of the house using the lock box mounted right beside the sliding door that leads into the kitchen. Wish we could have stayed longer! Will definitely book this property again, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Perfect for 2 or a small family!

Loved everything about this quaint cottage. Perfectly renovated keeping some old character while also providing all of your modern day conveniences. Location and beach access were our favorite features along with the classic charm of this cottage. Will be back!

Small Pleasures is terrific

We loved Small Pleasures. It is indeed small, but it suited us perfectly. The decor is charming and comfortable. The most well-equipped kitchen I've seen, although finding the silverware is a trick!!! Can't recommend it enough.

Plenty of room

Although the house was small, it was just right for the two of us. It was super clean, nicely decorated with modern furniture and finishes, and most importantly, close to the beach. Our only complaints are that the beds were full-size instead of queen or king, and the furnace/air conditioning was a little loud in the bedroom. We had an issue connecting to the WiFi at first, and although we figured it out on our own, the rental agency and owner were very responsive when we first reported it and even offered to come fix the issue. I really appreciated that.

Heaven

I spent three days here and have to say it was the most perfect mini vacation I think I’ve ever had. Small Pleasures is a perfect little spot to spend time soaking in the sun, listening to the waves and just recharging the soul. Watching the sun rise and set was the frosting on the cake. This was my first visit to Oak Island and I promise it won’t be my last.

Beach house Oak Island

Great house in a great location. Quiet and relaxing property with beautiful ocean views. We enjoyed our stay. You may want to hire a new cleaning crew. Dust bunnies and cleaning needs to be done under beds and furniture.
