The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were the highlight of our stay. Our room had a nice view of the sea, beds were very comfortable, and i had a good sleep. The hosts were very welcoming and gracious. This location was on the Shimanami Trail, right next to the shotengai, and across a ferry landing. Very quiet and charming place.
This ryokan is a gem. Great place to stop if cycling Shimanami Kaiden over 2 days. Great location on the water. Owners are extremely welcoming but essentially no English. But have written info in English for a couple of instructions. The Japanese breakfast and dinner are amazing with incredible number of excellent dishes for both. The baths are a real treat as well. Highly recommend staying here.

Liked: Cleanliness, room comfort
Overall accommodation was good, large sized rooms and very comfortable. Location is on the cycle track and also very close to town; this prices and excellent rest spot. The couple that run the accommodation and very friendly but do it speak any English.
Rooms are very clean and beautiful, breakfast deliciosos and Unique...MrTsutsui very Nice and kind...all staff is great... Thank you.....we Will come back
This Ryokan is part way from Onomichi to Ibari on the cycling trail so a great place to stop part way through. There is lots to do in the area and you can also take the ferry here and walk or bike around if you are not so ambitious to cycle all 74 Km.
The islands are beautiful!

Disliked: Staff & service
The staff at check in was absolutely phenomenal, and were very kind and helpful. The property is a bit dated, but still has that very authentic ryokan feel. That being said, a stay here may not be for everyone.
At dinner time we were comepletely forgotten about by service staff and other guests who arrived after us received their full meal before us. We thought at first we may have had a different course, but after about 30 minutes of waiting after the first portion of the meal, were served the remaining portion.
Despite being able to speak Japanese, staff did not explain anything about the intricate meal presented to us that was explained to Japanese guests. The food also had a bit too much lemon.
Overall, service was disappointing here. We thought this was going to be our splurge on the trip, as the price was quite high, but the value wasn’t there. We wish we had saved money here and stayed in a guesthouse or hostel.
