"Keep in mind this is an updated but historically old hotel. While the rooms feel fresh in design, the cleanliness was questionable in places. There was makeup on the mirror in the living space, string art on the wall was fully covered in dust bunnies, and the wallpaper had many spots of grime that looked like they were unnoticed and not even attempted to be cleaned. The bed was comfortable and linens were clean. Sheets and towels were spotless without odor. The shower nozzle unfortunately squealed throughout the entirety of my showers and it didn’t drain well. The shower head also barely hit at forehead height and I am about 5’6”. There is a “geodesic dome swimming pool” which is not huge and the ceiling looks questionably maintained. I imagine with humidity and age it’s hard to keep up. The outdoor spaces were lovely and well maintained. The staff were not exceedingly friendly but did their job adequately. That said, I asked for an 1130 checkout and was told it was granted, but housekeeping knocked with ferocity at 1110. The front desk called my room at 1129 as I was walking out the door to checkout. The view and balcony made up for the rest of it for me, but I do feel like it was the less expensive option for a reason. Next time I may pony up the extra cash to try one of the spots next door."
