“This was the perfect house for us. We especially loved the separate bedroom for our son to stay in. It was a fully stocked kitchen and a nice grill so we cooked in every night. The hot tub was great too! Mindi and John are wonderful hosts with top notch communication. The location was perfect for exploring the National Park and surrounding areas. The pictures just don't do this place justice, it's way cooler!”

Loved the large deck with seating to enjoy the birds and gentle rain. Loved the fireplace opening to both the living and bedroom. Loved the large jacuzzi tub for soaking away the travails of a day at the beach or hiking. Loved the well equipped kitchen. Loved all the windows that brought the outside in. “We were very impressed with everything about Fern Cottage from Matt’s instructions to the property itself. I have stayed in a number of rental properties but I have never seen the thoughtfulness I found here. Kitchen drawers were labeled. Individual heaters in the bedrooms as well as heated mattress pads. A gas stove in the living room to take off the chill. The cottage is close to Volcano village and the park. The property is close to the back of the estate and surrounded by the forest so it is……

“After attending a wedding and staying at a resort at the northwest side of the island, we decided to try the opposite side. Very comfortable location overlooking a golf course. Even played a few holes. Very short drive to Volcano National Park where we spent quite a bit of time. Home was very clean, well equipped and owners were very accommodating. Very relaxing location. I highly recommend this location and would definitely come back if I was to stay in the area.”

The gardens were a treat to wander through and we awoke to the sound of birdsong every morning. We really appreciated the beach towels, and cooler provided for our visits to the nearby Punalu'u' Beach and Ho'okena Beach Park.”

Huge wrap around lanai, with dining area and gathering spaces, big windows tons of light, cozy interior, well stocked games and entertainment closet, extremely comfortable beds, well appointed kitchen- stocked with cooking tools and serveware…modern lighting, wood stove, felt safe, the list goes on! “Beautiful, peaceful location just minutes away from the Volcanoes National Park entrance. Road access is unpaved and little dicey so a bigger SUV is helpful. Clean and well decorated interior and tons of flowers and birds just outside the windows. We had a pair of friendly pheasants who stopped by in the mornings. Beds are comfy and it has all the amenities you need! Unfortunately the hot tub was out of commission during our visit - but it would be perfect after hiking around the park! Owners……
