Shack is fantastic

Loved staying here. There was a storm during our stay and it was so cool to watch it from the screened in porch. Love the property it is on It is very relaxing. Looking forward to our next visit.

Perfect for children

We were coming to the area to help out with some relatives kids. We asked the owners if this would be okay and they quickly replied that it was. The boy wants us to stay here if we ever visit again. Dan and Shannon are some of the friendliest helpful hosts that we’ve met. Shannon’s mother lives on the property and is also lovely. She invited the boy to swing. As noted in the description, the kitchen and shower are outside so exposed to nature and such. Dan even took the time to write some notes about restaurants and local activities as he was heading out of town.

Fun place

We enjoyed our stay & would return. Only one thing o would change, keep the night stands,& shelves & sink area clear for guests items. Space important in small areas. No need for clutter, but must also add, everything was available for guests from toiletries to coffee filters to paper towels. Lines were impeccable White and clean. Thank you thank you!

Charming

‘The Shack’ is adorable. Loving appointed with fun decorations. Private. The covered porch on the back is your outdoor living room, complete with TV. We had trouble getting in and out of the bed…we are 80 and 78, very agile, and not hard to please. Having said that, the comfortable bed was ‘too much’ for us. Our fault for not understanding what we were getting! Shannon and her rescue dogs are adorable.

Palm City How it Used to Be

The property far exceeded our expectations. We lived in Palm City from 1988 until spring of 2000 and lived the quiet, small town vibe. While the entire area has grown significantly, this property still retains that small town feel. Very quiet, and certainly the most relaxing vacation I can remember. All the comforts of home, landlord close by and ready to support if needed, but really only saw them for a brief conversation the morning after we checked in. All the privacy you could ask for. Cannot recommend any more strongly.

Absolutely Perfect!!

Gorgeous property great for dog owners. We planned on staying two weeks, and ended up staying a month. I work remotley, and the wrap around covered porch was great for my outdoor office. It was beautiful, quiet, and secluded. Just about every morning a cute little otter would swim by. Dan and Shannon were perfect hosts. Always there if we needed them, but not bothersome. Oh, did I mention GREAT for dog owners. Our dog Chesterfield is a feral rescue with anxiety. He did amazing! He loved going for walks around the property. Then lounging on the porch with the fans, or laying on the dock in the sun. Looking forward to a longer stay at the "Shack in the Back" next year. P.S. Jeff can't wait for the outdoor kitchen. Perfect escape from Hurricane Ian

To say the tiny house was a gift from God is an understatement! Hours before hurricane Ian hit, we were trying our hardest to find a place to go with our 4 dogs…this place was perfect! The fenced yard was a lifesaver! And Shannon and her husband were literally the best hosts ever! They even offered their RV to our friends and their dogs so they could stay safe as well! I can’t wait to come back in better circumstances so we can kayak and enjoy the property more! Highly recommend and I tell everyone about our wonderful time there!

Glamping in Old Florida

A perfect spot for retreat and rest in the spring. Wonderful comfortably furnished porch where you will spend most of your time catching breezes from the river, using the private porch shower to wash away your cares, and going inside for deep sleep in cushy bedding. The interior of the "shack" is well thought out and carefully carpentered to make good use of all the space. There is no interior living area so be prepared for outdoor porch living or outdoor activity. My adult son and I stayed here while a visiting family who was at home on hospice so the serenity of the surroundings was welcomed. Though it is very private, the host is available nearby as needed. On our trip the Vrbo listed host was away but had arranged a family member to be substitute, and she came to orient me when I had questions on arrival.. I took my dog (Australian shepherd) with me and, though the property is listed as fenced, the fence in the back is open at the dock that is over water, so I could not let my dog out back off-leash. Other than that the property was just as described. There are ladder steps to the loft area which my adult son was able to access to sleep on the very comfortable floor mattress. This property is ideal for a single person, a small group get away, or a couple's vacation with or without young children. The children would need to be safely managed near the unfenced area of the dock. Loved the Old Florida feel of the location and the shack. My only suggestion to the host is to put some bedside lamps in place that are good for reading as the industrial type lighting inside produces a glare that is not good for focused work. We enjoyed our stay and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

A Treasure!!

Loved the tranquility of this perfect spot! Relaxing on the spacious, airy porch, sunning on the private deck, kayaking & row-boating in the waterways. Beautifully appointed little house, wonderful hosts, a jewel of a getaway! And our pup had a great, fenced-in area to play.

Spring Break

Great place to stay. My boys loved fishing from the dock. The cabin is centrally located, close to everything. Owners were super friendly and accommodating. (And their fur babies were pretty awesome too!)

Amazing property, great stay!

We spent a couple days at the Shack in the Back and loved it. It was quiet. It was relaxing. Close to shops and restaurants. Inside was decorated nicely and the outdoor space was perfect. Our two dogs had a great time as well. Would recommend and look forward to returning!

Awesome getaway!

I was worried at first since we were last minute and knew we wouldn't be able to find much on the beach. This turned out even better. This place is super cute, "shabby chic" and has everything you might need-- you will especially love it if you are a little bit country! The best part is the outdoor living space, the whole back porch, patio and privacy! The neighborhood felt really safe and we went out jogging with no worries whatsoever. Shannon, the host, is really great and will address any concern or question you might have. We will stay here again the next time we visit Stuart/Palm City and will recommend this place to family and friends!

The Love Shack

My husband, son, and my two dogs stayed in the Shack. It was beautiful, Small but very spacious!! The are Kayaks, a boat, a fire pit, nice grass for the doggies to roam, and it's Fenced!! The covered deck is enormous, with Lots of sitting areas. There is a TV, a nice kitchen with everything you need to cook. The bed is super comfortable. The restroom is perfect and the outside shower is amazing. It has hot water and is a cool experience. We walk around the neighborhood and is safe and pretty. The beach is near too. The owner is super friendly, She has doggies too and they are adorable. The place is a gem. It was more than I expected. My son said he could work and relax like never before. We will be back!! Thanks, Shannon for the wonderful experience.

Hit our needs perfectly!

Our hosts went above and beyond, even giving us a honey backed ham for thanksgiving and inviting us to their thanksgiving lunch! The house had everything we needed: My wife and I were both able to video conference at the same time (so the wifi is great). Our dog had a great time running around in the back yard. It has a full size fridge, and an air fryer/ toaster oven (I may be mislabeling it) but it was able to bake or reheat just like a regular oven. The outdoor shower was a great change of pace, had good water pressure and was warm.

Shack in the Back is a hidden gem

We came down to look at a boat in Stuart. This place felt so secluded yet was super convenient to shops and town. We truly enjoyed the outdoor loving space and the king bed. Our pups had just as great of a time and loved exploring the yard and chasing lizards. Will definitely be back!

A fun, relaxing getaway

Our family of three really enjoyed our stay at the "shack." The outdoor shower, large covered porch, and the dock were a big hit. My fishing fanatic son caught lots of fish, the beds were very comfortable and we had everything we needed for our stay. If you like the beach and the outdoors, there are numerous places to visit and explore within a short driving distance, as well.
