1. Access: no pre-warning that google maps does not lead you to the hotel but instead takes you on a 30 min detour, no pre-warning of the extremely treacherous road (steep hills, no signs, driving on the beach, no ability to perform a u turn safely), impossible to park the car safely
2. Room: offensive smell (that the staff did not seem to do anything about after complaining), no privacy due to our room being the thoroughfare from the parking to reception, no offer to change our room when we asked for a room that at least had the view that was advertised and we paid for.
3. Breakfast: the idea of breakfast in your own veranda may sound nice until you find out there is no menu and you have to pick on the spot from a very small selection that is verbally described to you. The excuse that this generates intimacy between guests and the hotel is a very poor excuse.
4. Powercuts: may be a local rather than a hotel issue but not acceptable not to have a generator if this is a recurring problem
5. Staff: polite but clearly experts at ‘playing dumb’ and trying to appease regarding issues that clearly are recurring
This may be a new hotel facing teething problems. We would’ve been much more forgiving had there been some motivation to address the issues that we raised at the time.
