The Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption of Cabo Frio is an impressive religious gem of colonial and Baroque design. It is thought the church was built in the mid-17th century, as part of the westward growth of the town from the Passagem district on the Itajuru Channel. Note that the building was expanded and adapted in later centuries, so many of its features are newer.

Enter the church to see the single nave and corridor of the interior, which was painstakingly restored in the 1960s.
