"Wonderful location in the hills outside Bologna. Fantastic thermal spa pools. Nice food and great staff (reception speak english). The room was basic and definitely overpriced. 2 stars at best Euro 65 per night should be the price, in my experienced opinion. Noisy and drafty accommodation. Conversations in the corridors and stairwells echoed around the whole building. Smokers' cigarette smoke somehow drifted into my room. WiFi was non-existent. In summary, bad hotel for business travellers....

"Lovely village feel with the hotel and the castle being at the centre. There was a wedding on in the castle, they seem to have many events at the grounds. We ate in the restaurant one night which was excellent (restaurant is closed on Sundays), the room was very spacious, modern and clean with a great shower room, breakfast was simple but did the job. Getting to Bologna is not that easy without a car as the local train station has only very few trains per day and the bus stop is quite a walk. Friendly staff and seemed to be on a bike / hiking trail."

"We were looking for a unique place to start our holiday and Ca’Palazzo Malvasia really delivered. A former hunting lodge 15 mins outside of Bologna, set in rolling hills and accessed through miles of gravel driveways interspersed with iron gates, the Palazzo is full of sloping corridors, staggered steps, grand rooms and antique furniture, with bookcases bulging with texts from the 1800s. The family room (2 double beds) was fully in keeping with the feel of the place save for a modern bathroom and excellent aircon. We never met any staff as the listing wants to keep out of your way, but they were clearly there in the background, keeping everything running smoothly. Palazzo guests can use a swimming pool and 9-person jacuzzi (not 9 jacuzzis as the listing suggests!) that is shared with guests from a B&B on the estate."

"Nice place in the outskirts of downtown- little hard to find with Mapquest- but we did make it. The hotel is in great shape- the up garden needs a bit of maintenance- but the parking was excellent! Had very good dining experience for dinner- and our room was beautiful- we had the blue suite- which was outstanding- the hot tub on the balcony was fun. "

"Our stay was overall really great. The pool was lovely, there is a sauna but I didn’t get to use it. The breakfast had a nice selection and almost all of the staff were amazing and helpful. A special shout out to the lady that manages breakfast as she seems to remember everyone and makes an extra effort with all guests! The biggest detriment was the night manager on Sunday the 19th. I came downstairs and there was no one at reception so I wandered over to the restaurant to borrow a fork. I didn’t take it off any table that was already prepared but went to the cutlery pile. On the way back I saw the manager at reception and asked if it was ok that I borrowed the fork to show I wasn’t hiding anything or stealing anything and he was patronising and rude over a fork. Other staff members witnessed his attitude and apologised to me after but there no wonder he is a night manager. It might be better if he wasn’t affiliated with the hotel at all as it left a bitter taste in my mouth."

"Beautiful home in a fantastic location just outside Bologna, with easy access to all that Emilia-Romagna has to offer. The house is beautifully appointed, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed.The caretakers were exceptionally kind, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating throughout our stay. Traveling with three generations of our family, we especially appreciated that everyone had their own private room while also enjoying the spacious indoor and outdoor gathering areas where we could comfortably spend quality time together.This home was the perfect setting for creating wonderful family memories, and we would be delighted to return someday."

"Das Apartment ist geräumig und komfortabel. Beim modernen Ausbau der ehemaligen Stallungen sind traditionelle Materialien - Terrakotta, dunkles Holz, Eisentüren und -beschläge - verwendet worden. Zusammen mit der Einrichtung entsteht so ein authentischer Eindruck eines "Landhauses". Die Einrichtung besteht aus sorgfältig aufgearbeiteten alten Möbeln, stilsicher kombiniert mit modernen Stücken. Das Geschirr nutzt man gern, die Ausstattung ist gut. An heißen Tagen, wie wir sie hatten, bewahren die dicken Steinwände eine angenehme Atmosphäre. Wenn man die steile Auffahrt bewältigt hat, befindet man sich in einer grünen Oase mit Vogelgezwitscher und weitem Blick in die gefällige Hügellandschaft. Nach den Exkursionen in Bologna war das für uns ein wohltuender Rückzugsort. Wenige hundert Meter entfernt sorgt eine Trattoria für ausgezeichnetes Essen, wenn man nicht selbst kochen möchte. Hervorheben will ich: Serena und Michele haben uns warmherzig empfangen. Sie sind aufmerksame, freundliche und stets hilfsbereite Gastgeber. Wir haben uns bei und mit ihnen sehr wohl gefühlt."
