We visited the Alexandra Redoubt today. It is extremely significant in the land wars between the British and Maoris and you can still walk the trench walls. It's really great to visit places like this, you would hardly know it was there unless you had a local to take you like I did!

Better than expected! Very convenient location.

Historical hotel in town but the faculties or rooms are not dated at all. Overall very pleasant stays. We stayed at apartment and regular room on two separate occasions, both are very clean and spacious. Lots and lots of restaurants and some souvenirs shops nearby. Highly recommend!
