  • Greetings from John at the American House! This is the perfect getaway to destress and relax! This is an original Lincoln Logs home, nestled in two and a half acres of private woodland, with 100 feet of lake frontage. No noisy motorboats at this end of the lake, just lots of wildlife and an occasional canoe or kayak. A hand crafted canoe is ready for your enjoyment, as well as 3 kayaks. Very private property with almost anything you may need provided down by the water, including an outdoor screen with projector and a dock for launching the canoe and kayaks. Check out the pictures!

    Cabin sleeps five, with a queen bed in the master bedroom on main floor, a double log bed and a queen bed in the loft, as well as a twin rollaway in walk in closet. The bathroom is off the spacious den. There is an air conditioner in the master bedroom. Normally the cabin stays quite cool by following a few easy tips. Please help yourselves to the well stocked kitchen and linens. A brand new gas stove is in kitchen. Large TV in the living room and in the den with lots of movies to watch. Two twelve by twelve foot Canopies right on the water with a stocked fire pit and hammocks nearby. Electricity, WIFI, refrigerator and rain barrel all conveniently located. Large outdoor screen with Bluetooth speaker for viewing movies or concerts also down by the water. A private screened gazebo right on the water 100 ft from fire pit area.

The house is a perfect place for a relaxing stay, near the water, and close to everything in the area, yet removed enough to feel like you're in the middle of the forest. John was excellent to communicate with, and we look forward to coming back in the future.

The cabin continues to be a magical place. It is incredibly comfortable and homey and the property is set up to meet all the needs you may have- indoor fires, outdoor fires, grilling, smores, movies indoor or outdoor, paddling, and birds upon birds that beg to be watched. This was our third year and we will keep coming back.

We found a paradise. Our stay in this beautifully crafted cabin provided a wonderful escape. All needs and even those unanticipated were provided by John whether in the kitchen, by the lake and throughout the beautiful grounds. We grilled both at the cabin and by the lake, kayaked and relaxed in the hammocks. A special treat was the groundhog family the came out to nibble grass in the evenings. The home is full of history enhanced by John's family photos. We are grateful for the opportunity to have stayed here.

Great cabin on the lake with loads of amenities and welcoming touches. It was just me visiting a colleague but this is a great place for a group retreat or family fun as well as a peaceful place for someone traveling solo. Excellent and communicative host and I really enjoyed my time here.

Cozy cabin

We loved our stay! Great, cozy, well maintained, cabin with lots of privacy. Our kids loved sleeping in the loft and had a blast playing into the shallow water by the dock.

Great visit to the Berkshires. The house is setback from the road and you have great privacy but also very convenient. Easy access to all the Berkshires attractions.

Lovely, unique accommodations. John was extremely responsive and kind. Well maintained property and clean, ample, well-stocked cabin with thoughtful touches. The memory foam on the primary bed was a little too soft for our liking but everyone's personal preference varies. Impressive array of lakeside ammenities including hammocks, firepit, grill, and outdoor sleeping tent. Sunset and moonrise on the lake was a highlight. Also enjoyed kayaking in the early evening. Spotted an otter in the water at dusk. Onota Lake was great for swimming. Nearby Ashuwillticook Trail was perfect for an easy, flat and shaded morning bike ride. For local eats, we enjoyed Second Drop Coffee for breakfast or Whitney's Farm stand for lunch. A short ride to Mt. Greylock summit made for a nice excursion. All in all, it was a great stay in a central location for our first trip to the Berkshires.

Beyond expectation - a hidden Gem

I could not be more satisfied with the experience we had during our short stay. It was actually very nice to be more in the quiet Cove vs the main lake area… Paddling via canoe or kayak to the main lake area and swimming off of the island there was quite special.

Wonderful!

Great place for a family get-away. So relaxing but plenty to do. Really feels like a friend is letting us use their own home. We've stayed three times and will try to come back often.
