We had a beautiful week at the Platinum Yucatan Princess in our junior deluxe swim-out suite. We stayed in the 4020 block and it was a quiet area of the resort. There were a few larger groups in that area as well, but everyone was respectful and the pool didn’t feel crowded.

Overall stay was mediocre. I wish I had better things to say but the issue that I had and the way it was handled was poor. Good location, good amenities. Friendly staff.
This is my issue with my overall experience. About a 2 inch cockroach in my room. The problem wasn’t the cockroach so much, but the way this incident was handled.

The food was subpar. A lot of the restaurants were not open at convenient times. This is no one’s fault, but the sargassum (seaweed/algae) on the beach made the entire resort smell. Also one of the “raccoon-like” coatis took a dump on the patio and you must make sure to lock the door, because if not, they will enter your room and eat your food and ransack the place. Pools, staff, and spa were amazing.

Really enjoyed my stay here. I booked a swim out room, and thankful I did. Was nice waking up every morning and having the ability to jump right into the pool. Room itself was very spacious. Bed was comfortable, and the furniture was simple, but worked. Didn't feel trendy or dated. I dined at the 2 of the restaurants and did the buffet. I've read a lot of complaints about the food, and honestly, nothing I had was bad. On the same note, nothing also really stood out. I used the room service feature, and the wait time was about 45 minutes, so please keep that in mind if you are famished. Staff were professional and courteous. I went in the season of sea weed, so the beach was not accessible (I travel to Mexico often, so this is not a surprise to me. Please research when this happens so you are not caught off guard by it). I have only 2 minor complaints. The first, is I am an early riser. So I had to wait till about 730/0800 to get my swim time in as they were doing the maintenance on the pools (not dinging them for this, as this is very much a resort that has an active night life). The second is the remoteness of this location. My excursions that I booked, I was in the cab/vans a lot due to being the first one being picked up (e.g. I booked a Chichen Itza tour, and left at 0700, and got back at 2330). So if you plan to do any long excursions, look at spending the extra money and do it exclusive). I had a lot of fun and would stay here again.

I visited Platinum Princess Yucatán. It was very clean, safe and quiet. Plenty of options to eat and drink. The food was great, especially when ordering straight from the grills. Various activities to do onsite and great excursion opportunities too.

The property was beautiful but huge and hard to navigate your way around. The shows all began at 10pm so we did not get to catch any of the shows. I was not aware that they required long pants and closed toe shoes for men at dinner so we had to go buy clothes just to go to dinner at the restaurants. It was a nice place but unfortunately it did not fit our preferences.

I only will give it a three star review now because of the beach having Sargasm but because the food was very average nothing out of the extraordinary the weight in the restaurants at times was 45 minutes just to get seated we went to three of the à la carte restaurants and the Italian restaurant. We waited about 30 minutes to 45 minutes to get the appetizers and one of them was horrible literally four pieces of raw salmon and three pieces of lettuce no sauce no salt no pepper then I ordered room service that never got to the room or at least if it did, we fell asleep since we only ordered a piece of cake and a glass of milk and and it had to be at least over an hour. We walked over to the riviera side of the hotel and everything seem nicer we walked over to the beach, and one of the guards told us that they would clean that side of the beach since there was a lot more people. Also, the entertainment was just OK during the day there was some music on the main side of the hotel, but not on the Plenum side. Which we got upgraded to without asking in our pool side was extremely dirty and it was just in the corner, making it feel like the room should not be charged for a swim pool you could see the picture of the pool where we say that they could use some cleaning it seems like they never have. They haven’t cleaned them in a while. Overall, it was just an OK experience staying there when made our trip worth. It was the excursions that we booked.

The only downside was all the seaweed which made the beach unusable -- which is not the fault of the staff - the whole coast is having issues. The food was amazing, as was the entertainment. I recently returned from a 9-day stay at the Platinum Yucatan Princess Resort in Playa del Carmen and had a relaxing, enjoyable experience. The staff was consistently professional, courteous, and helpful. I loved the gym—especially how close it was to my room—and the spa treatments were incredible. Special thanks to Marcos for the mud clay session and Evelin for the massage. My room was spacious and clean. The seaweed issue on the beach was unfortunate, but I appreciated the staff’s efforts to manage it. While the restaurants were good, rotating closures each night limited dining options. Also, for an adults-only resort, I was surprised most bars closed by 10 p.m., and the nightclub shut down by 1 a.m. It would have been nice to have more late-night options. Still, the resort is well-maintained with great amenities, and I’d definitely consider returning. Thanks to the team for making my stay memorable!
