Quinta Fornelos is an exquisite former farmhouse with a rich history that dates back to the late 18th century. This meticulously restored gem is nestled in a serene valley surrounded by expansive vineyards, basking in abundant sunshine throughout the day.



Every aspect of the original structure has been meticulously preserved, with skilled artisans restoring the stonework to seamlessly blend with the aged walls. Notably, this year-long restoration project gained acclaim when it was featured in a series of BBC documentaries in the spring of 2009, lauded for the "breathtaking skill of local craftsmen."



The interior is a sanctuary of brightness and spaciousness, generously bathed in natural light. The open-plan design of the public areas provides a sense of expansiveness, while two distinct sitting areas offer cozy separation. A magnificent wooden dining table, handcrafted by local artisans, graces the dining room and comfortably seats up to 14 guests (12 adults and 2 children). A well-stocked library awaits, housing a collection of books and DVDs, including the captivating story of Quinta Fornelos.



Accessibility is a top priority, with two bedrooms on the main floor and a wheelchair-accessible bathroom. The airy kitchen, with sweeping views of the valley and an ancient hillside monastery, is equipped with top-of-the-line amenities. Descending to the lower level, four bedrooms await, each with its own en-suite facilities. The family room features a spacious king-sized bed and custom-made bunk beds nestled in an alcove.



Outside, Quinta Fornelos boasts two expansive patio areas, perfect for al fresco dining or sunbathing. The centerpiece is a magnificent 15x8 meter swimming pool set amidst meticulously landscaped gardens adorned with orange, apple, and olive trees. There's even space for activities like badminton. A barbecue and dining area, shaded by mature trees, beckons guests and is conveniently located near the main house.



For wine enthusiasts, a small vineyard has been planted on the lower terrace, with plans to produce one of the region's most popular Vinho Verde varieties by 2012. Mature olive trees offer tranquil shade, providing an ideal spot for contemplation amidst the serene beauty of the property.



Quinta Fornelos is conveniently located near the historic town of Ponte de Lima, Portugal's oldest town, offering a multitude of high-quality restaurants, cafes, and bars. Open-air esplanades along the Lima riverfront, an 18-hole golf course, a horse riding center, and other activities are also within reach. Basic amenities like a minimarket are within walking distance.



The lively port of Viana do Castelo, known for its winding streets and ancient landmarks, is easily accessible. The stunning coastline north of Viana offers ample opportunities for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports. Small towns like Ancora feature restaurants offering locally sourced seafood.
