If you are coming to this part of Belgium, it is well located. The condition of the hotel is pretty good - seems recently renovated - it is more of a 'guest house or B&B.' The management / receptionist that I met was very friendly and helpful - the place has some color, which I liked. However, some issues: no hot water in the shower - it was maybe a little warm, mostly cold... not nice. And, I was left with only the end of the toilet roll and I didnt find spare rolls. This is kind of outrageous. The manager/receptionist did apologize (and seemed sincere) but, apologies only get you so far for lacking hot water and having no toilet roll. With some small improvements / attention to details - this could be a pretty nice, cozy, local place to stay. The restaurant was OK - portion size was good, price was OK, quality was OK - not amazing, but not bad. The terrace is nice for sitting in the sun. I would go back if the issues I raised were sure not to happen again.

Die Gastfrau war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, Sie konnte sogar ein bisschen Deutsch und das hat mir sehr geholfen. Das Zimmer ist ruhig gelegen.

Charming stay in Watou

We have stayed at Het Wethuys several times and will definitely continue to do so. Breakfast and dinner is good, the rooms are comfortable, the family and people that is "operating" the place are fabulous. Combined with a spacious parking place (old market place) right outside the hotel ... it couldn't be better.

Wonderful place!

There were 4 of us (my 2 daughters and cousin) in our group and we absolutely loved this gem of an inn. It was a delightful surprise to stay in this historic place and speak with the owner/innkeeper about the history of the area and the inn itself. Ms Barbara presented the tastiest and most varied breakfast as well, which was included in our price. It is located a little out of the way from busy Ypres (maybe 15-20 minutes by car), but well worth it.

Charming stay in Watou

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 4 days during Easter 2018. We have previously stayed at several hotels in this area, but it seems like we have found our dream hotel this time. The hotel is a quite small family operated hotel. It includes a good complimentary breakfast, and you may as well eat dinner, and drink the local beer there. (They even have their own hotel beer which in no way depreve the opinion that this area has the best beer in the world.) The area has great parking facilites just 10 meters away from the hotel. They were expanding the number of rooms and installing an elevator when we visited, but this did not spoil our experience at all. We were a bit sceptical about staying at a 2 star hotel, but the scepticism disappeared as soon as we entered the hotel, and was met by the most friendly family in the world. The room we stayed in was spacious with a comfortable bed, a nice bath room and even a refrigerator where we could cool down local specialities (i.e. beers) and taste the in the room. We will definitely stay here at our next stay in this area.

This is a cosy, comfortable and friendly hotel

We like this hotel, hence our return visit. It is dog-friendly, which is important to us. It is cosy, comfortable and friendly with good food. This time, even though the owner and staff were battling with 'flu' as well as refurbishment we were still made very welcome.
