    The space
    Enjoy a comfortable stay near amazing outdoor attractions at this renovated retreat, one side of a well-appointed duplex. In a convenient location, your vacation rental provides a launching pad to some of California’s outdoor greats, including Sequoia National Forest, Giant Sequoia National Monument, and Kings Canyon National Park. Downtown Porterville is also nearby, offering an old-town feel with an artsy vibe.

    Unwind into vacation mode after your explorations. Log into your streaming accounts and watch a movie after a fun-filled day - each bedroom includes a smart TV. Find everything you need in the well-equipped kitchen and whip up tasty meals (dishwasher not included). Added perks include a wall unit with air-conditioning and heat and on-site laundry facilities (shared with the other half of the duplex).

    If traveling with a larger group, consider also renting the other half of the duplex for additional space.

    The outdoor areas are shared with the other side of the duplex.
    Your rental is across the street from a farm. There may be stray chickens on the property.

Place was very cute. Stayed to visit different trails around the Sequoias with my dog. The place is small and quaint but perfect for a little place to sleep and stay. Didn't have to contact the host much but they were kind and responsive. Overall, great stay!

The instructions for checking in and the WiFi instructions were incorrect and not updated. The host helped us get in but never responded regarding the WiFi. Both remotes for the TVs were not working. Batteries missing in one and broken plastic on the other. No a/c in the rooms, only fans. The place didn’t cool down. Overall bad experience considering the price

We arrived at the property and left within 30 minutes due to unacceptable cleanliness conditions. We immediately contacted the Host to request a full refund, which was escalated to Expedia/Vrbo. The unit was not clean upon arrival. The floors were visibly dirty, and the kitchen contained a used, dried-out sponge in the sponge holder along with “clean” dishes left on the counter. The bathroom was also in poor condition.The toilet paper was nearly depleted, with one roll left on the toilet and another almost empty roll stored under the cabinet, along with two empty zip-lock bags. The laundry bag was dirty, and the soap dispenser was broken and missing its spout. Additional issues included stained ceilings, a visibly dirty bedspread, and heavy fingerprints on the bedroom television and dresser mirror. Due to these conditions, we left within 30 minutes and booked alternative accommodation. The Host only agreed to refund 50% of the payment, which we do not find acceptable given the state of the property. When I showed Host pictures and said this place was unacceptable and i would be leaving a terrible review, he said I was lying and “threatening” him. We also note that previous reviews from 2025 and 2026 describe very similar conditions, indicating an ongoing issue.

First of all, the duplex is located in a neighborhood that doesn't have any street lamps. We arrived at night, and were greeted by a stray dog in the street. The road leading to the unit is unpaved. The one really easy and good thing about this place was the check-in process. When I couldn't figure out the door because the instructions didn't match the door set up, the host was very communicative and immediately answered and helped us in. When we entered, the light in the living room barely works, and the light in one of the bedrooms doesn't work at all. The internet wasn't working, but the host was very responsive and helped us get the internet back online. The place was dirty. The floors hadn't been swept or mobbed, there was no toilet paper holder, an extremely dirty kitchen sponge sat on the kitchen sink. The dishes that were stacked had not been cleaned very thoroughly, the oven door was practically falling off, there was no trash bag in the trash can and the broken freezer had thawed food rotting in it. They were dirty towels in the hamper and they were three towels that were folded on the back of the toilet. When I touched them they were damp, and they did not smell as if they had been washed. When I got up in the morning and I grabbed the tea kettle to boil some water, a mouse ran out from behind the tea kettle and across the countertop behind the kitchen sink. This is when I booked a hotel for the second night of our trip.

The property is a duplex. This property was fine last year but we tried to rent the other side of the duplex this year and had to cancel after arriving because one of the 2 bedrooms had the entire floor removed. There was a pile of moldy rotten wood and trash bags next to the front door upon arrival and active construction in one of the bedrooms. The worker stated that there was a mold problem with the sinking floor and that they were removing the entire floor. There was a sign on the door to the bedroom that said "Do not use this room. Floor needs to be repaired. Can be dangerous". The owner only informed us of the issue on the check in day and not during previous messages back and forth prior to arrival. The yard and parking area also appeared much more trashy this year with dog poo everywhere and multiple stray dogs roaming around. The owner did provide a full refund without issue after we informed him that we would not be staying at this property given the conditions.
