Lovely, Spacious House
Everyone in our group loved this house. Its spacious, well stocked with dishes, cookware, towels, etc, very comfortably furnished and has a spectacular view of the Columbia River and Mounts Rainier, St. Helens and Hood. Brian the host was terrific…very simple check in, super responsive and welcoming. If our group gets together again next year, will definitely stay here again!

The owner met us for check-in. He is gracious and easy to talk to and responsive to questions/requests. Our group of 12 was very comfortable and found ample space to spread out. The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of cook/bake ware, cutlery, flatware, various glassware and dishes. The house is fun to explore with a lighted moon phase graphic built into the dining room floor. It is a very private and quiet location.

Portland area golf trip with friends
This property worked great for the 8 of us traveling from the Seattle area to the Portland area for a full week of golf in the region. There are plenty of golf courses within easy driving distance. We brought and cooked our own food, so I can't comment on the nearby eateries, but I've been told there are several nearby. The house is great, with plenty of room for all of us, and the amenities like the pool table and TV room were great. Brian and Kathie were easy to work with. The setting is very secluded, and the views from the turret were worth the effort to climb the stairs.

Perfect Fit
We stayed at this property with all of my husband's siblings and their spouses. There were six rooms with either a King or Queen bed in them. It was a perfect fit for all of us and we enjoyed the property very much. We even were able to pick some wild blackberries that we enjoyed with some vanilla ice cream. We had no problems with the property. We enjoyed the views from the back porch, but the trees could use a trim for an even better view. I would highly recommend this property if you are in Oregon.

Group stay for wedding in Portland
A group of us stayed here a few days while in town for a wedding. Its quiet and peaceful. Perfect for the mornings, with a great view, to relax and get ready for our days in the city. Everything we needed to do was no more than 20 to 30 minutes away. We prefer to be away from the city when its time to shut down. Its an older house but clean. Improvements are constantly being made so expect this place to only get better beyond this review. Brian was really friendly and gave good advice on some good tourist places to adventure to. There were no problems to have him attend to but we knew he was there if we needed. They even let us extend checkout after making sure there was not another guest right behind us, very grateful for that! Very happy with our stay!

Nice quiet and secluded lodging
The house was quiet and secluded, which was very nice for 10 people to stay at and not worry about being too loud. The house does need some minor upgrades and repairs but it is still was very nice. The house does not have central air conditioning. It does have one window air conditioner, but leaving windows open at night does cool down the inside well.

Beautiful house!
This house was so beautiful and had so much space for our two families. The house could use some kids dishes and there were no towels hooks in the master room, which was a little strange. But otherwise, no complaints. Would recommend and stay again.

Kathie was so helpful and always available for any questions. We had multiple families staying at the house for my daughter’s wedding and it was perfect. The beauty surrounding the house was the icing on the cake!

Amazing property for large groups
This property exceeded my expectations! It fit 11 of us comfortably and also was perfect for our bbq gathering that we had to celebrate our son’s graduation.

Enormous home with lovely views
The house was terrific for our group of 12. Plenty of space to spread out and to gather too. Could use some maintenance, such as replacing the damaged carpets in the upstairs bedrooms. A second refrigerator would be a terrific addition to the home. Easy access to St. John's and Hillsboro too. We wanted to make use of the tower room but it was a little dirty with limited seating options. Overall we would consider booking this property for our next gathering

Nice House. Obviously ongoing updates. This was our 1st time renting a house. They had just finished cleaning when we pulled up. House is not new but all of the important items have been update and worked well except for the WiFi. I would put mesh routers/points in a house this large. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment and standard things like sugar and spices. There were some spiders in the basement and we did use the basement bedrooms so some eradication was needed.

Perfect for Our Group
We recently stayed at this property with five older couples--all family. The space was wonderful with a large kitchen, huge dining table, and plenty of bedrooms. Brian, the host, was incredibly attentive and responsive. He even went out to get us a few extra chairs for the dining table and answered other questions quickly. Rain or shine, it is a lovely setting.

RETREAT 2022
We look for an out of the way location that can accommodate 6 large men for a weekend on cooking and gaming and this place suited our needs perfectly. The owner is a very nice person that was willing to help us reschedule when COVID reared its ugly head with no hassles or heartache what-so-ever. The property was in a great location and had good internet access for our needs. We would like to extend our thanks to Mr. King for his help in making this a great RETREAT this year!

Best host and house in Portland
We loved everything about our host and the house ! Off the beaten path with the most amazing views ! House is so clean and lots of room for our group of 11 from age 11 to 50 (it was a 50th birthday weekend getaway) We all could gather around the table for games and meals but also have lots of privacy when wanted. We loved going to St Helens Halloween Town and Powell’s bookstore in Portland. Highly recommend! And we hope to be back again soon !

Fun With Friends Near Portland
Although this property was a bit dated I would give it an awesome review due to several things: 1) Owner communication was superb--very quick and personable responses 2) The views from this home are exquisite!! 3) Although there were only 3 couples in our group, the home could have accommodated twice as many. The home was equipped with everything we needed to prepare the few meals we ate there. 4) The home which was in an isolated area was beautifully situated in a woodsy area and very accessible to the Willamette Valley wineries which we had come to visit. 5) The price was very reasonable for what this home had to offer! This home added to the awesome time we had in this region of the United States. I would definitely recommend it to anyone needing a place to stay in the Portland area.

We had a wonderful time...property was as disclosed, very comfortable and clean and detached from Portland enough that we felt like we were in the country, even though we were only about 15 minutes from Portland. We would stay at this property again if we come back to this area. The owner/host was very accessible and accommodating.

Family Celebration
This home is the perfect home away from home! We felt so welcomed and fit right into the surrounding area! Location is perfect!! Easy to get to downtown. We spent most of our time at St John’s as we celebrated our daughter’s double degree from The University of Portland! Brian was the perfect host!! He proved to be a part of the family with his warm and welcoming demeanor. We are so BLESSED to have had the opportunity to stay in this beautiful home and it’s wonderful landscape! We rented this property for a Christmas family gathering. With 5 kids under age 8 and 6 adults we appreciated the room to spread out. Brian, the owner and his property managers Dave and Kathie were gracious hosts. From a fire burning in the stove upon arrival, having a Christmas tree for us to celebrate under, immediate attention when we had a couple of small problems and allowing us late check out because of our flight schedules, they were most accommodating. The property is a bit farther out - 15-20 minutes in to Portland - but the setting was spectacular. We loved our stay there!

Stunning spot for portland vacation
The views from this location are wonderful. The house has lots of comfortable space. It was perfect for out party of adult couples. It was not far from downtown Portland so a great location with all the benefits of a country feel and no noise. We liked meeting Brian, the owner and marveling at his metal art. He says he is set to remodel a bit and that will lift the house to fantastic inside and out.

I made a WONDERFUL choice !!
I know it may sound like an exageration to give 5 stars in every category, but honestly, this place deserves it. The house itself is huge, with a pool table in the basement AND a Fooseball machin on the third floor, keeping our kids and adults entertained. The antiques all over the house are fun to see and interesting, and at the same time, it is a kid/family friendly house. Most especially, I appreciate the well-stocked kitchen, as I was cooking for many people. I easily found everything I needed. The exterior of the house is charming and beautiful in the mountain, and the views are lovely. Brian and Kathie were great hosts. I do highly recommend this property.

Great place for casual family
Quality mattresses and linens on the antique furniture. Nothing fragile to be wary of harming. Owner sent the property manager within 1/2 hour to address our one concern during the week. Loved the privacy and views and spaces to hang out in the house. I envy the August visitors who will have fresh blackberries surrounding the house.

The kids had a great time playing pool and hanging out with each other. However there are a few concerns we had during our stay. The house was very cold. Heater was not working and most of the space heaters did not heat up to fill the room or area. We did also have an issue with seeing and getting rid of dozen of what looked like tree bugs or beetles every night and morning. And there was a lack of cleanliness in areas.

We are so sorry to hear that any guest had less than an ideal stay. Guest mentioned these issues the day after they checked out. Housekeeper and I both live about three minutes away and would have loved the chance to address their concerns. Heater was professionally repaired the day we got the news.

Lovely peaceful house for family reunion, but close to city!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The view was amazing. It was a peaceful location with lots of room for each person to have their own space, but also space for large groupings, games, etc. Kitchen was nicely equipped. Owner was responsive to our needs. We would be happy to stay here again!

Perfect for large family get-together
The house is spacious, well-furnished, full of light. The pool table and foosball table were big hits with all ages. The views of Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Hood are stunning. Oh, and the troll bridge on the way up the mountain was fun. Brian immediately addressed any of our concerns from how to adjust the thermostat to where to find the blender. The house was plenty big for the 7 adults and 6 children in our group.

Wonderful for large parties
We enjoyed our stay at this property. The house could use a little TLC BUT the location was beautiful and it had all the amenities for a family gathering. Our party of 9 cooked Thanksgiving dinner and we had everything we needed. The house had plenty of room and everyone was very comfortable in their own space.
