The overall large grounds were well maintained-pools and beaches were amazing. However, there appeared to be a major plumbing issue with water sometimes not working & other times drainage/flushing not working properly. I traveled with a group of people with 4 different rooms in various buildings-all experiences these issues. Also no swim up pool bar or snacks served at adult only beach side. Food was mediocre at best —even at reservation required restaurants.

Only thing was the signage or lack of. Just could have been better. Also we thought there might be some available information about activities outside the resort in the lobby. Check in and out was a breeze. Service outstanding. Food was excellent. Chez gourmet was a bit underwhelming especially with the enforced dress code. The other restaurants were all exceeding our expectations. The beach was amazing and it shows the effort and pride the staff puts into it. The property in general was spotless with crews always working to keep it up. Been to other resorts seeing peeling paint and rust. Not here. Food choices were unbelievable as was the quality. Overall, our stay at Barceló Bávaro Beach was disappointing given the price we paid. While some staff members were friendly and helpful, the rude interactions we experienced unfortunately overshadowed the positives and impacted our overall impression of the resort. Dining was inconsistent. At the Kyoto restaurant, we encountered a long wait and an unfriendly hostess. The restaurant also did not enforce its own dress code, allowing guests in swim shorts, flip flops, and inappropriate t-shirts, which took away from the experience. It felt like standards were inconsistent and possibly influenced by tipping. Additionally, smoking was permitted throughout the property, including inside restaurants, which was very unpleasant—cigarette and cigar smoke were frequently noticeable. The beach itself was beautiful, and we appreciated that staff worked continuously to clear the sargassum seaweed. However, the pools were always crowded, and it was frustrating to see chairs reserved early in the morning but left unused for hours, with no intervention from staff. In the end, for the cost of this resort, we expected a higher level of service and consistency. Unfortunately, we would not return, as there are other resorts and destinations that offer better value and a stronger focus on guest experience.

I stayed on the adult side. The only thing about it is that it’s lacks things for the adults to do. They at least need an adult game room. One pool table, 1 paddle ball table and 1 foosball table just don’t work!!!

The resort is a bit older, but very clean. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The buffet food was super fresh every breakfast and lunch. We ate at one of the restaurants every dinner and it was good. We did get a couples massage and it was wonderful and professional. We would definitely stay here again.

Most of the staff was rude. We didnt get our bags until 1am and we had to go find them. The shower had boiling hot water or none. The area around the building smelled like sewage. The food was subpar even in the restaurants requiring reservations. The sheets/bedding and towels had stains on them. Housekeeping went thru my luggage. The beach was great, plenty of chairs.

La nourriture était fraîche et variée. Le personnel est très à son affaire. Le massage au spa nous a vraiment détendus. La plage est magnifique et bien entretenue. On peut nager car il n'y a pas trop de houle.

Great beach. Oceanfront room excellent. Staff very good, many speak English and if you can speak just a bit of Spanish, no problems. Food: breakfast and lunch buffets very good. La Brisa restaurant excellent. A la carte restaurants at the Palace only so-so ....... assembly line cooking. Noisy: It's a huge property and attracts large groups which can be noisy - especially at the pool. The Palace seemed almost frenetic at times, families with children and US young adults on Spring Break. Also, there are "party boats" which cruise out at sea - constant very loud music. Plenty of beach chairs but not enough at the Pool.
