We chose Majestic Colonial Punta Cana based on its strong reviews and expected a great experience, which is why this situation was so disappointing. We booked a Terrace Ocean Front Suite with an indoor/outdoor jacuzzi, one of the premium room categories at the resort. When we arrived, the room had multiple maintenance issues. The curtains were broken, the shower head did not work properly, and the sliding door to the terrace was broken. The blankets also had visible cigarette burns, which is unacceptable for a room category at this level. It was clear the room had not been properly checked before guests arrived. During check-in, a staff member tried to convince us to give him $400 in cash to move to the adults-only area, claiming our room was not ocean front and that he could “move us.” When we asked about doing the upgrade through the official hotel system, we were told the price would be $32 per person per day, which for our 11-day stay would total about $704 before taxes (approximately $772 through the hotel system). This made the request for $400 in cash directly to him even more concerning. During that conversation he circled different rooms on the resort map, first pointing to a room he claimed we had booked and then circling another room he said he could move us to. This was confusing because the second room he circled was actually the room category we had originally reserved. The explanation kept changing and felt misleading. We declined and simply asked to stay in

We absolutely loved this Resort. It was the perfect size, not too big or small. The grounds were kept spotless. The food was excellent. Favorite restaurant was Taino, meals were so Fresh. Upgraded to a Swim-up Room, worth every penny. The service was top-notch. The nightly shows were just OK, we wish they would produce more Cruise-like entertainment. We will definitely return.

The Majestic Mirage was a beautiful resort. I stayed with my wife and toddler and was very pleased with all the amenities. The kid’s club was truly a fantastic option for parents trying to entertain their kids. The staff were all wonderful and friendly. The rooms were very spacious and clean. There was a lot of thought put into making guests feel fully taken care of. Plenty of food and beverage options. I highly recommend this resort!!

Although this property had high ratings (9/10 when I booked), the Colonial is in need of major renovations (As of March 2026, I'm told they are closing for renovations). The rooms are not 9/10 in quality or cleanliness. The toilet room has a fogged glass door that has no latch, and is only about 30"x 30", the bathroom vanity was falling apart, and the front door had cracks big enough to see outside. The pool is actually very nice and well maintained. The bars are plentiful, but the offerings for spirits is very limited. Food is what we would consider OK. Not bad, but not great. It does the trick when you're hungry and some offerings are actually pretty good, but for the most part the food is adequate. There are plenty of things to do at the resort, good activities and high energy events to keep you busy in the evening after a day at the pool/beach. They do a really good job at this. Some staff (mostly bartenders) were great, others were very rude and just grumpy. Check in and check out is really lacking. We waited in line to check I for at least 30 minutes and there was never anyone in line in front of us. The check-in process is just excruciatingly slow. At check out the front desk agent was not friendly at all. A very fitting end to our time there. We would consider going back when the property is renovated just for the pool and beach, but they need to work on staff culture.

Our room was very nice with a view of the ocean from our corner balcony. The housekeeping staff were great. The bartenders amazing. There was very little pool or beach waiter service. We had none while at the beach and maybe twice the whole week at the pool. This was different from our previous visit many years ago. Although this property will be renovated very soon, the property is well maintained. The gardeners do an amazing job. This is a very beautiful resort. We can’t wait to see it after the renovations.

This is a very good hotel, you get a great experience and value for the price that you pay. The rooms were spacious clean, nice view, jacuzzi and a decent balcony. The food is really good, whether at buffet or ones required reservations. They grill all kinds of meat and sea food for your order, so even the pickiest eaters won’t be hungry! All food are seasoned and cooked really well, I tried to test the Dominican food and other items that I don’t usually eat, they really make good tasting food. The pool is so big that never gets crowded, you will have spots for yourself and your family. The staff are ALL very friendly and try to make the experience nice. They do have lots of daily activities at the beach and the pool and other evening activities like Bingo. Cristina, Hot chocolate, Dimmond, were AMAZING. The kids entertainer, Asinex, was so kind and nice with kids. At the bar, Miguel and Edwin at the pool bar and Carlos at the lobby bar should be your go to person. Night entertainments could be a hit or miss. The circus show was fabulous, but other shows didn’t really impress or entertain. Tips: As soon as you check in ask for the hotel app and reserve your restaurants. You can reserve days in advance ( it is not same day like other hotels). If you’re gonna play tennis or pickle ball you’ll need to reserve that too. Use the app to check daily events and activities. If you are allergic or are with kids, consider that their no smoking in pool is not reinforced. People

This property is very nice but a bit dated. This is my 3rd time here and I love the layout and the lobby area and bar are beautiful. Love the beach and beach bar and the staff are very nice. The rooms and bathrooms need to be updated, especially the bathrooms in the main bar area.

Our stay was extremely disappointing. Multiple families, including ours, had to complain throughout the night due to excessive noise in the hallways. The disturbances went on for hours every night. Despite repeated complaints from several guests, the issue was not resolved for three consecutive nights. It was very frustrating that the situation was only resolved after the disruptive guests finally moved out on their own. Guests should not have to endure sleepless nights in a resort that is supposed to provide comfort and relaxation. Unfortunately, the hotel management did not take effective action to address the problem. Because of this experience, it significantly affected our stay and overall impression of the resort.

All of the amenities were great, the staff were very interactive and created good energy around the pool and during evening entertainment events. The rooms were good, but were a bit dated. The resort is scheduled to update the rooms beginning April 1st. Overall, we had a great experience!

Staff was great and property is very nice and well cared for in general for a bit older property. Loved the way the pool meanders from one end to the other on the property and the landscaping was meticulous. Food was good. Japanese restaurant and sushi were the best. Be careful using room service. After 11 it is chargeable, yet it does NOT specify that anywhere on the app, in any info, and has no price list.

Love this resort. However there were a couple issues. Couldn't seem to get washcloths or hand towels. One day we'd get 1 wash cloth, no hand towels. One day we'd get 2 hand towels and no wash cloths. Our butler made reservations for us without asking for our input. He would walk past us and sit down with a couple young ladies wearing thongs. He never did know our names. The Japanese restaurant was TOTALLY rushed. Reservation at 6:45...we were done before 7:30. Problematic! 600+ spring breakers showed up on Saturday. They were rude, obnoxious and totally out of place. The drying rack on the deck was old, rusty and broken. None of these things ruined our vacation, but definitely needed to be noted

This is my second time dear in less than a year however everything was perfect except for my first 3 days dear the entertainment wasn't that good on Monday the entertainment was excellent because you had a show The days prior to that there was no show they were just a DJ that changed everything
