Although this hotel is iconic to the area, it needs a serious cleaning. We were able to check in early which we appreciated but when we got into our room it was very evident that it had not been vacuumed. I called the front desk and they did send someone up very quickly. There was no toiletries or a clock, both of which were stated on their website were available in every room. As we were required to leave a $200 security deposit, I informed the front desk that they were not available and was informed that although it says it in the print material, you need to request them if you want them. On our second day, Quebec City was under thunderstorm watches and the torrential rains came all morning and into the afternoon. This was to no fault of the hotel however, at one point my husband went into the antiquated bathroom and called out to me that there was a flood building up on the floor. As we were we in a room at the end of the hall with an outside wall, the rain was running down the wall and pooling on the floor. I called the front desk and they did immediately send someone up. A gentleman entered, took a look, left and came back with two towels, layed them on the floor, shrugged and left. Although the safe did not work, at least the TV did. The view from our window was spectacular and we were indeed in a great location, but as we had planned this trip for quite some time only to be so completely disappointed in the accommodations, we would not recommend it.
