The villa was as beautiful as pictured on vrbo. The setting in the hills was gorgeous and landscaped with amazing flowers and plants. The chefs were very friendly and not only was the food incredible every day but it was displayed elegantly. The house was cleaned daily, beds were comfortable, the showers inside and out were great and the property manager arranged all of our excursions with guides to meet us at each stop. We were so spoiled!! Our driver was prompt and so kind and every moment was absolutely PERFECT.

Best Family Vacation

There were 11 of us. We loved the house and Rambo our concierge and chef. Rambo knew everything about the area including contacts with the different excursions near VDF. Without him, we would have struggled to know where to go, where to park if we had gotten our own van, etc. Whether we were out and about or stayed at the house, we loved every minute!

An Unforgettable Costan Rican Retreat at Vista del Fuego

Nestled amidst the lush landscapes of Costa Rica, Vista del Fuego is truly a hidden gem that promises an extraordinary vacation experience. From the moment we arrived, it was evident that this place was a haven for relaxation, adventure and culinary delights. The culinary journey at Vista del Fuego was an exceptional highlight. The presentation was nothing short of artistry, and every meal felt like a special occasion. Chef Rambo's attention to detail and dedication to crafting remarkable culinary experiences truly elevated our stay. He accommodated our dietary requests with no problems at all. Rambo served as our concierge which added an extra layer of excellence to our trip. His expertise in planning excursions like Zip Lining, Horseback Riding, ATV adventures and our private guided tour of Manual Antonio made it even more of a memorable experience. The personalized touch and insider knowledge made the experiences go smoothly without any stress. Beyond the exceptional service, what truly sets Vista del Fuego apart was the sense of family. We had the pleasure of spending time with Chef Rambo's warm and welcoming family, Diego, Armando, Anji and their son. Sharing meals together with our new Costa Rican friends created a genuine bond, and it felt like being part of an extended family. These interactions enriched our stay and made it feel like a truly authentic Costa Rican experience. We left with hearts full of gratitude & memories that will last a lifetime.

Fun for all ages!

The house is beautiful and the views are breathtaking. Our family (ages 1-62) enjoyed our stay at Vista del Fuego. Diane was responsive to our questions. Diego was an amazing chef and very friendly. So was the chef who assisted him. Rambo’s meals were delicious. Our driver for the week was Luis. He is very kind and our family truly enjoyed meeting him. Angela kept the house very tidy. I would recommend Vista del Fuego. I’ve really struggled with writing this review. We had a few disappointments during the week, mostly related to communication and expectations. Be very clear about what you are requesting and research the companies and excursions yourself. An example was my DIL birthday. We asked for a private catamaran for the day. $2500+ later (after fees, etc) we had a snorkel boat for 2.5 hours. It was frustrating for our family. We had other excursions that didn’t meet our expectations as well. We did enjoy the house and spending time together there. For outings, I definitely wished I had planned our excursions myself.

Absolutely Amazing!!

This trip was everything we could have hoped for and more! From the excursions to our meals with Chef Rambo, we felt like we were living the life of the rich and famous! There were 10 of us total (5 couples) and the house was the perfect size for us. We had Rambo cook all of our breakfasts and dinners and it was well worth it! He is an amazing cook and we are still missing his meals. The first full day we had a "pool day" at the house and hired the bartender for a couple hours. I am so glad we did this because we were made some authentic Costa Rican drinks! Diego was awesome and so much fun! We did the Jungle buggy waterfall excursion that was beautiful. We learned a lot about Costa Rica and Luis was a great tour guide! We also did a Catamaran Snorkeling/Sunset cruise that I highly recommend! Our last day we did a guided tour through Manuel Antonio National Park where we saw sloths, monkeys and snakes! We ended at the Beach Club where Rambo has them set up chairs and canopy's and you also have a waiter for food/drinks. This trip would be nowhere near how it was if it wasn't for Rambo! This was a stress-free vacation from start to finish because he takes care of everything! I don't think I could go back to an All-Inclusive resort now, that's how amazing this trip was. We are already talking about when we are going back. Don't think, just BOOK IT!

Unbeatable Views!

We loved Costa Rica and we loved Vista del Fuego! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left everything was fantastic! Luis picked us up at the airport and was our driver all week long. The drive up and down the mountain was not our favorite part but Luis was an expert and he navigated it well. Rambo coordinated all of our adventures - White Water Rafting, ziplining, waterfall adventures and an amazing sunset ride and snorkeling on a beautiful catamaran. Our favorite was the catamaran - don't miss it! Rambo and Diego cooked all our meals and I would highly recommend arranging the meals to be cooked at the house, you will definitely find it is worth it! Thank you to Angie and Armando as well! On the morning we left for the airport the van got stuck in the driveway and Armando rushed to help and got us on our way! We had a great time and would highly recommend this house and this team of great people!

Would love to return! Owner very easy to contact if needed and the concierge (Rambo who is also 5 star chef) was very responsive. Felt very safe. We did a lot of activities that Rambo coordinated seamlessly. Would highly recommend having some meals prepared by Rambo. Each meal was excellent!! Angie made sure the house was clean each day and her husband Amando took wonderful care of the grounds and pool. All pristine. Plus all the staff were so kind, friendly and went above and beyond to make our family vacation perfect! We are very grateful. No hesitation here…..Book it without worry. The property and home were truly outstanding! Wonderful owner and staff on site. Good communication, outstanding chef/concierge (Rambo) always going beyond to meet our needs, excellent driver (Randall) and excellent property maintenance individual (Amando). With 6 adults and 5 children under 8 the needs and wishes are many and the staff was very accommodating and doing so with a smile. I highly recommend this property.

Vacation at Vista de Fuego

Our group of 9 family and friends had the pleasure of staying at Vista De Fuego for 7 days. We thought that the grounds and the house were amazing. We were there during the rainy season and it did rain quite a bit, but it was still very enjoyable. Rambo, the Chef and overall house manager, was amazing. We had 3 dinners and 4 breakfasts made by him and it was top notch. In fact, the overall service was great. Armando, the grounds keeper helped us when we had a flat tire. Armando also made us an arch for a very special surprise wedding proposal. Rambo, helped coordinate all excursions and trips and gave great advise for what to expect and when to leave to arrive on time. All of that made for a much easier vacation with 9 people. Oh and his food was quite tasty! He also accommodated any special requests that a couple of our group had. Cons: The road off the highway to the house is a doozy. It took 15 minutes to get to from the highway and it is a very bumpy ride. It also rained most days after 3pm and became very foggy. We had a hard time finding our house in those conditions. We decided quickly that we would always return to the house by 430pm everyday to avoid the stress of it. We were also there in the rainy season which is our own fault! We managed to figure it out but would prefer a house that has a bathroom for each bedroom. We found it difficult to get 9 people out of the door with only 3 showers. That's just a preference. Overall, it was an amazing trip and we felt very much at home. We would definitely return, but maybe in a different time of year. Thanks again!

Exceptional in every way

How do I even begin to express how happy we were with vista del fuego. We were a multigenerational group of 11 and the house met all of our needs and exceeded all of our expectations. First of all this house has amenities that most other Costa Rican houses do not - a hot tub, easy access to laundry facilities, a generator which came in super handy for the frequent power outages that are common in Costa Rica. We looked at many other houses and this might be the only house that we found with all of these features which really contributed to the comfort of our stay there. The property itself is gorgeous and in a great private location with plenty of entertainment. What put vista del fuego over the top was the staff. Rambo the concierge made planning our trip super easy and convenient. My daughter is special needs and my mother has strict dietary needs and he made sure to call ahead to our excursions and make sure that all of their needs were met with out me even me having to ask. He always chose the highest quality licensed guides for our tours and the ziplining company was top notch and so incredibly safe - we were super impressed. We hired him as a chef as well and all I can say is they were definitely some of the best meals we have ever had - definitely have him cook for you, even if it’s just one or two meals. Edgar our driver was so flexible and kind, making sure we always got to where we needed and even bought us local snacks to try while we were out and about. Armando and his wife made sure the house was always immaculate when we came back. I honestly cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience was. Typically when we travel with extended family like this it can be very stressful due to all the individual needs and preferences but this house was so well equipped with amazing staff and amenities that this was honestly the first non stressful large family gathering we’ve had. If you are still trying to decide, look no further, this is definitely the place. It doesn’t get any better than this.

The house is wonderful and the staff were truly wonderfully. All the rooms and the house and the property were exactly what my family wanted. The staff were extremely helpful and the house and property was just beautiful. Would highly recommend staying here.

Amazing Family Vacation

My wife, 2 adult sons and daughter in law spent 8 days at Vista Del Fuego. The time was planned to get our family reconnected as we have all have busy lives and live across the US. Just before we drove up the road to the property I cautioned my family that pictures are sometimes much better than the actual property. I was absolutely wrong the pictures although spectacular don't do the quality of the house or the incredible views justice. It is stunning both inside and out. The landscaping is amazing and a credit to the landscaping done by Armando does an absolutely amazing job. IT truly is spectacular. Angie did a wonderful job keeping the house neat despite our messy selves. Rambo was the chef and concierge he was friendly, a massive help and a wonderful chef. He made setting up trips and events easy. His use of the results of our fishing trips (mahi mahi and Snook) made for amazing ceviche and wonderful dinners. And his grilled tenderloin was something we asked for twice it was so great. If you are going to rent this home you will want to rent a 4X4. I found the road was easy to drive (although the van ride in on day 1 was exciting). Both Quepos and Dominical are close by. If you haven't been to Costa Rica do the Manuel Antonio trip with Edwin. I've been twice and this trip was amazing. The sloth fight (including one sloth thrown out of a tree) and monkeys were interesting. The vacation turned out to be exactly what we needed and we spent such wonderful time together. The beautiful views, wonderful food, wonderful staff and our friends the toucans (saw at least 5 at one time) made for a great trip .

Paradise!!!

We had such a fun-filled week at Vista del Fuego, and are already planning out our return trip! We hired Rambo to cook gourmet meals for us all week, and wow— that was the BEST (and cost-effective) idea we had all week. He and his family are so precious and kind. Rambo helped plan out our week, and we had so much fun! We spent a full day on an off-shore fishing trip and found a pod of spinner dolphins with more tuna than we could imagine, so much so we had to head back to the marina because we caught more than we could house on the boat. Rambo prepared the tuna and other fish we had caught for us all week, and oh my! We are spoiled forever! We also went ziplining with nearly the whole crew— ages 3.5 to 36! We went to Buena Vista beach, and Rambo set up for us to have top notch service with umbrellas/chairs/drinks/food while the kids played in the ocean. While there, we also went parasailing and horseback riding, saw beautiful sights, and boogie boarded. On our final night, after a fantastic meal prepared by Rambo, Thais (Rambo’s wife) made us an out of this world passion fruit dessert!! She is known in the community for her baking skills and even provides her cinnamon rolls to the best bakery in town. We spent some days at Vista del Fuego and others out and about, and all were so unbelievably fun and helped us make memories that will last a lifetime. When we go back, we are looking forward to trying out some of the waterfalls (like the one with a slide!). The house itself is full of fun things to do— we loved the pool table, the comfortable beds, and the pool/hot tub. Angie was there daily to clean behind us—she is so sweet and such a hard worker. We got to hang out with Amando, the groundskeeper, and he told us stories about the family of Sloths that live to the left of the property! We didn’t see them, but next time, we are bringing our binoculars to scope them out. Our kids were so excited to get to swim and play with Angie and Amando’s son, Andre, and Thais & Rambo’s children, Ismael and Amaya, in the pool. Thank you Diane and Christopher for hosting our friends/family for the best vacation we have ever had! We can’t wait to come again!

Relaxing and Rejuvenating stay in Paradise!

Vista del Fuego provides the beauty and calm to be truly present and enjoy each moment. We decided which activities we wanted to do and what food we wanted, and Rambo did the rest! Talk about luxury!!! From the moment we booked our trip, everything was perfect. We arrived to a sky full of beautiful stars and slept very comfortably. The beds and pillows are very high quality and soft. We awoke to coffee and fruits followed by an amazing massage by Cynthia! I highly recommend it! For dinner the ceviche was AMAZING, as was everything else! All of our excursions were with very knowledgeable and fun guides, and the best part is I didn't have to do any of the research. Diane and Chris send all of the favorite excursions with transportation options and chef options and Rambo takes care of all of the planning and meals! Having everything so expertly taken care of takes away all of the stress, so all I did is enjoy the vacation...this was a very exceptional experience and vacation! I wish there were a Vista del Fuego in every city I want to visit. We can't wait to go back!

Absolute PERFECT Vacation in Paradise!

Our experience at VDF was an absolute dream! The house was amazing, the grounds were lush, well cared for and beautiful but the pool was FANTASTIC but the most memorable part of our stay was the staff. Diego (Chef) Thais (Sous Chef) Armando (Maintenance/Groundskeeper) and Angie (Housekeeper) and Rambo (Concierge/Property Manager). We will never forget their kindness, hard work, DELICIOUS food and the unforgettable memories they provided our family and friends with. All in all - it was the PERFECT vacation!

Amazing stay in paradise!

From the moment we booked, the owners, Diane and Chris, and Rambo made sure our trip was exactly what we wanted it to be! Rambo coordinated activities for our party of 9 (zip lining, horseback riding, a trip to the beach, and the Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary) and arranged for Jose to pick us up at the SJO airport and drive us as a group everywhere we needed to go. We had originally booked 2 rental cars and quickly determined they were not needed. Thankfully, Rambo was able to cancel for us. Since we were such a large group we determined we should have Rambo and Angie cook breakfast and dinner for us each day- the best decision we could have made! Each meal was delicious and would receive a 5 star rating in any restaurant. Every dinner we selected a fresh seafood and a non-seafood main entree and were amazed by the richness, creativity, and flavors in each dish. We also had our choice of 2 appetizers, sides, and a dessert which included bananas foster, fried oreos, and a the best chocolate cake ever. Make sure you ask for the fried plantains- they are amazing, especially in the plantain lasagne! Diane and Chris have thought of everything to make their home comfortable and relaxing! The kitchen is fully stocked (not that we needed anything thanks to Rambo), each room has plenty of outlets, the beds are amazing, and each bathroom has a hairdryer, plush towels, shampoo, conditioner, and everything else we needed. We were excited there was a pool table when we booked but never even made it to the third floor because we couldn't pull ourselves away from the pool and the gorgeous views from the patio. Armando does an excellent job keeping the landscaping beautiful and even met us at the end of a hike with coconuts he cut open so we could have fresh coconut water. He also shared information with us about the local animals and plants. We were not as lucky as other reviewers to see monkeys or sloths on the property but did see toucans and Armando's sweet dogs were happy to accompany us on walks and play around the pool. Thankfully, Rambo sent us to a beautiful nearby beach where we saw several sloths and monkeys in the trees. We were able to see even more at the sanctuary. We highly recommend this beach and if it is clear there is a small reef not too far out. There is so much to see and do in CR. Our only regret is we did not stay longer. We highly recommend this home and hope to return soon. Thank you for the best birthday!

Absolute Perfection!!!

The property is even more amazing than it looks in the pictures. The view is breathtaking, the house is immaculate, the staff felt like family by the time we left. It was a perfect vacation! I highly recommend choosing the personal chef service, Chef Rambo coordinated all our excursions, rides, reservations and prepared a killer breakfast and dinner everyday. I cannot wait to come back, we are already discussing when we can return! A Wonderful Retreat with Something for Everyone

Vista del Fuego was the perfect place for our week long family vacation. Rambo, the concierge, was so helpful - he helped us plan all of our activities including the white water rafting, off-shore fishing, waterfall hike, and a guided tour of Manuel Antonio National Park. Rambo was also available to hire as a personal chef - and the food he prepared for us (every day for breakfast and dinner) was truly amazing!! We selected each meal from an expansive menu, and the food was a major highlight of the trip for everyone!! He cooked the 5 Mahi-Mahi we caught during our off-shore fishing trip, which more than fed the ten of us for two nights. We had perfect sashimi, ceviche, Mahi steaks and crispy fried coconut Mahi with apps, sides and dessert - it was incredible!! Rambo also showed us how to freeze the fish and bring it back to the states, so we have some great Mahi steaks back in Texas and Arizona too. The back patio was perfect for relaxing during the day and cooling off in the pool, and also to gather for a big dinner and drinks at night. We made fresh fruit smoothies in the Ninja blender most evenings and watched the sunsets (sometimes with a little rum mixed in!). The rooms all worked really well for our group. We had several couples and a toddler. Most of the rooms have great views of the ocean and Manuel Antonio, but some in our group preferred the secluded rooms facing the garden and rain forest. The property itself has been beautifully manicured by Amando, the live-in property manager. Amando and Angie live at the bottom of the hill, and cleaned the house and property each day while we were out keeping everything pristine inside and out. It also made us feel very secure to pass their house to get to Vista Del Fuego and was fun to see their little dogs Stuart and Doby. Overall, this was a fantastic, beautiful and relaxing place to stage a group vacation. We would all absolutely stay here again! The facilities and services made everyone feel truly pampered, and the whole experience - from start to finish - was beyond enjoyable for our entire family!! Everyone in our group has said they cannot wait until we go back for the next vacation.

Trip of a lifetime

We were a group of 9 with ages ranging from 14-75. This property and location had something for everyone. The view is amazing, the support staff and cooking by Rambo was the best. I would recommend taking advantage of using a driver. The road to the home is very steep and without a 4 x 4 impossible. White water rafting was our favorite activity.

Awesome view, made for relaxing.

Our vacation was awesome, facilitated by very mindful hosts. Thank you Dianne, Rambo, Angie, and Armand (and their adorable pets). View was spectacular, sunrise/sunsets were unbelievable, and the only "noise" came from the birds. Spending time at the pool and hot tub, well you get it. Some of my family got to see a mamma sloth and her baby! The only complaint (for some of my family) was that the home was situated high above a mountain (thus the spectacular views) requiring a 10 minute ride on a very bumpy road to get to any where. That's why a 4X4 Jeep is a must. I missed the adventure! We had a truly enjoyable time!

Trip of lifetime

We had 11 people ranging from 11-72. It was the most amazing stay. The entire staff was amazing: Rambo, Angie, Armando, Jose and Ana took great care of us all week. Deep sea fishing, white water rafting, jet skis, zip lining, multiple beaches and waterfalls....and more. The food was 5 stars by Rambo: the fish, lobster and Costa Rican cuisine was amazing. All the staff treated us like family. We will never forget this trip and hope to be back soon. Pura Vida!

Great place to stay in Costa Rica

A group of 5 couples just spent a week at Vista del Fuego and found it to be everything we wanted/expected. Plenty of room for us and very comfortable. We had breakfast every morning with a wonderful view of the ocean prepared by Rambo, the chef/concierge. Highly recommend staying at Vista del Fuego and securing the services of Rambo. He made everything easy and prepared some wonderful meals
