Fantastic holiday villa with welcoming hosts

I could not recommend this villa more. The property is exactly as you see on the photos, it is a stunning villa that is definitely set up for eight visitors. George and his family are incredibly welcoming hosts, they could not have done more for us during our stay. The villa was clean and tidy. It was a great base to explore the area. The pool is great, we paid to have it heated and made use of it every day. The villa made this a very special family holiday.

Sehr schöne, gepflegte Villa

Wir waren sehr zufrieden. Die Villa ist mit den dicken Steinmauern geräuscharm, so das man auch mit 6 Personen gut schlafen kann. Die Familie betreut den gesamten Aufenthalt sehr liebevoll, inclusive Abschiedsgeschenk und griechischer Spezialitäten zum probieren, die sehr gut geschmeckt haben. Man bekommt gute Insider Tipps z.B. schöner Strand. Der Ort ist klein und zum Glück noch nicht so touristisch. Wir werden bestimmt nochmal wieder kommen.

Fantastic holiday

Villa Elia and Rogida were the perfect place for our family holiday . There were 16 adults , ranging from teenagers to over eighty years young, and a baby. We all loved the cleanliness of the villas, the great beds by the pools and the local amenities all within walking distance. George was extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely love to return and recommend the villas.

A wonderful stay!

We’ve just got back from a fabulous stay! We’re a family of five and the villa was perfect for us. Extremely clean and beautifully presented. There are lots of handy shops and cafes within the village but we drove to the main town every evening for a choice of more restaurants and bars or for the beach during the day. George was the perfect host. Always answered messages promptly and was around every day to clean the pool or offer local recommendations. We received many culinary treats from his mother, which was a very special touch. Thank you George!

Wonderful stay

Thank you to George and his family for a lovely holiday. Villa Elia is absolutely beautiful! We were close to Rethymno to get the bus, the local village had plenty of restaurant and supermarket options and it was a really peaceful place. The villa itself is amazing, very spacious, it has everything we needed and was very clean! Thanks again George!

Magnificent!

We stayed here in July/August 2023 broadly as a result of the glowing reviews on this site and found it exceeded our expectations. There are three villas on the site in a private settlement in the lovely authentic village of Atsipopoulo. George is an exceptional host and takes great pride in the accommodation and making your holiday the best it can be. His communication is always friendly and swift and is always on hand to make recommendations for meals or excursions. His knowledge of the island is excellent. The villa was exceptionally clean, well equipped and very comfortable with plenty of room for both inside and outside space. I believe the villas were constructed in the early 2000s and are beautifully designed. You can tell that a good deal of thought has been placed into their appearance. The pool was a wonderful place to spend a day and cool off from the heat of the summer. The villas are located in the heart of the village, with plenty of local supermarkets, bars and a great bakery just a few minutes walk. There are several tavernas also worth a visit within walking distance. Further afield, the town of Rethymnon can be reached by bus, taxi or a 10 minute drive with its pretty old harbour and Venetian fort. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this villa to anyone looking for a Luxurious villa in a peaceful, relaxing setting.

Perfekte Unterkunft

George und seine Familie haben hier eine ganz wunderbare Unterkunft geschaffen. Die Unterkunft ist abgelegen von der touristischen Hochburg Rethymnon und das kleine Örtchen hat echtes griechisches Flair. Wunderbare griechische Lokale sowie Supermarkt sind fußläufig zu erreichen. Die Villa ist genau so wie auf den Bildern abgebildet, es fehlt an nichts. Zuletzt muss man noch George erwähnen, der zu jederzeit mit Tipps und Ratschlägen sehr fürsorglich sich um seine Gäste kümmert. Ein wirklich perfekter Urlaubsort.

Gastvrij en comfortabel verblijf

Ongelooflijk leuke woning en zeker goede ontvangst. De eigenaars zijn zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Ze zijn continu bereikbaar als er problemen of vragen zijn. Het huis zelf is zeer ruim, alle kamers zijn goed uitgerust en de keuken heeft alles wat er nodig is. Er is een zwembad en de eigenaars maken het elke dag schoon.

Amazing hospitality and great stay

We spent one week in villa Elia and enjoyed it from the first to the last moment. Our host George was amazingly friendly and helped with every concern. The communication in advance and also during our stay was perfect. The villa was really clean and well equipped. We couldn't have wished for anything else. Ein rundum gelungener Aufenthalt

All unsere Erwartungen, die anhand der eingestellten Bilder hoch waren, wurden erfüllt. Das Objekt ist sauber, ruhig und sehr gut betreut. Die Reinigung des Hauses wurde 2 mal in der Woche durchgeführt, zusätzlich gab es auch bei jeder Reinigung frisch gewaschene Handtücher. Das Objekt liegt mitten im Dorf und war trotzdem ruhig. Der Vorteil der zentralen Lage liegt darin, dass man die Bäckerei und den Supermarkt fußläufig erreichen kann. Diese Möglichkeit haben wir dann auch regelmäßig für frisches Brot genutzt. Weiterhin sind einige Tavernen ebenfalls fußläuifg erreichbar und wir haben fast alle mal ausprobiert ! Die Betreuung durch George was perfekt. Er hat uns trotz unserer späten Ankunft gegen 23:00 persönlich in Empfang genommen und uns die wichtigsten Dinge erklärt. Mittels Messenger haben wir dann jederzeit für uns wichtige Fragen klären können. Neben eines Willkommens und Abschiedsgeschenks haben wir noch eine griechische Köstlichkeit von Georges Mutter zur Verköstigung überreicht bekommen. Beides hat uns hervorragend geschmeckt !!! Alles in allem hatten wir einen tollen Aufenthalt in Zeiten der Pandemie. Abschliessend ist zu erwähnen daß der gastegeber George bei jedem persönlichen Treffen eine Maske getragen und den Sicherheitsabstand eingehalten hat.

Great Villa

From the moment that we arrived George was there to welcome us to Villa Elia, our home for the next 5 nights. George spent a good amount of time explaining all that we needed to know about the villa and the surrounding areas. There is a well stocked grocery store about 3 mins walk away, a few coffee shops, a bakery, and a number of great restaurants. O’Manolis is a nice traditional Greek restaurant with good food, but we really enjoyed Souvlaki Agaganis which has a nice patio right beside an old church. All are within easy walking distance. We enjoyed just relaxing on the good sized patio, going for a swim, and even had a bbq one evening. There are 2 other villas in the complex however each one is quite private with fences, trees, and other vegetation separating them. George’s mother Mary made us a few treats that were delicious and greatly appreciated. All and all this is a nice location in a small village yet only 15 mins drive to Rethymno and just over an hour to Chania or Heraklion. I look forward to returning for another vacation.

I booked this villa for my partner and our 7 months old baby. We had both sets of grandparents visit at points as well but at no point did we feel like we needed more space. From the minute you arrive at the villa you are greeted by George and his lovely family. They are all so accommodating and will literally do anything to make your holiday as perfect as possible. Because it is a family run business there is always someone on hand to help and this makes the whole experience a little more special. The villa is beautiful and has everything you would need. We are already talking about going back next year and we can't wait!

Lovely family holiday

We cannot thank George and his family enough for the most lovely family holiday. The villa was beautiful and kept clean. Communication between us and George was perfect and he could not do enough including arranging transfers and excursions for us. The village is lovely and mostly peaceful. We had two lovely meals at the restaurant just up the road on the same side of the villa and service was excellent and fun. Thank you so much for making our holiday everything we wanted and more.

We have nothing negative to say about our stay at Villa Elia. The Villa was immaculately clean and kept so throughout our stay. Excellent location. George and his family treated us like friends rather than paying guests, always available for any assistance we needed. They really did illustrate the famous Crete hospitality. We would highly recommend this lovely villa and wonderful Crete.

We couldn't fault anything about the villa; spacious, immaculately clean, great sized pool and well equipped kitchen, great location for exploring the island. George was a fantastic host and made sure we were looked after and had everything we needed, gave us some great recommendations for visits and Tavernas, he went over and above expectations to ensure our holiday was perfect. Fantastische Villa aus Natursteinen mit schönem Pool.

Die Villa ist noch schöner als auf den Fotos, tolles kühles Raumklima durch Natursteine und Holz, wenn es doch zu warm ist, kann man in allen Räumen Klimaanlagen einschalten. Alles war sehr sauber und wir haben uns sofort wohl gefühlt. Die Vermieter, eine Familie, sind sehr herzlich und bemüht, sind auch immer ansprechbar. Sehr nett, dass wir auch einen leckeren Nachtisch bekommen haben und ein kleines Abschiedsgeschenk. Man hat verschiedene Sitzgelegenheiten und die Küche ist gut ausgestattet, man kann auch super selbst kochen, es gibt einen großen Kühlschrank und ein Gefrierfach. Wir hatten viel Spaß im Pool mit einigen lustigen Luftmatratzen. Es gibt einige Restaurants und Bäcker und einen Supermarkt in direkter Nähe zur Villa. Die Badezimmer haben eine Badewanne mit Duschkopf, man muss dazu in die Wanne steigen. Die Doppelbettmatratzen sind schon etwas dünn geworden, so dass man die Federung spürt. Wir hatten keine größeren Probleme damit, aber wenn man Rückenschmerzen hat, könnte es unangenehm sein. Die Lage der Villa ist fantastisch, es ist sehr ruhig, da das Haus nicht direkt an der Straße liegt, man kann aber einkaufen und Essen gehen und mit dem Bus nach Rhethymno fahren. W-Lan ist auch super und kann in allen Räumen und am Pool genutzt werden. Fernsehen mit SAT Anlage ist im Wohnzimmer vorhanden. Wir hatten eine superschöne Zeit.

Wonderful 2 weeks at Villa Elia

We have just returned home from Villa Elia which is exactly how the pictures show it. It had everything we needed and more. George and his family are wonderful hosts, nothing was too much trouble. He was just a quick phone call away if needed but never intrusive. Mum left us a lovely dessert in the fridge which was a big hit. A car is needed if you want to explore further afield and George arranged this for us with one quick phone call. Taxi to Rethymnon costs about 10 Euros and we ventured onto the bus one day. There is a timetable but .......... My little granddaughter loved the swimming pool and is now part fish . I highly recommend the villas if want to holiday in the area

Absolutely perfect in every way !

This beautiful villa in the old village if Atsipopoulo was perfect for us (4 ladies in our early 60’s celebrating a lifelong friendship) Through the private entrance there are 3 villas, each with its’ own private pool and grounds , ours was Villa Elia... We arrived in the early hours of the morning to be welcomed by George (with raki and a Cretan cheese pie which his mama, Maria, had made) We fell into the very comfortable beds which all have beautiful, high quality cotton bed linen. As this villa sleeps 8 we were able to have a double room each. The open plan ground floor comprises the kitchen/dining/ lounge areas, all extremely well equipped, spotlessly clean and tastefully yet comfortably furnished. Cleaning and fresh bed linen and towels was done mid week too. AC in every room – which was great as the temperatures were between 28 and 31 degrees every day! We spent most of our waking hours outside – in the shaded dining area, pool, sun loungers and barbeque(which we did use – no problem at all) The fragrant plants around the pool added to our pleasure and privacy too. Our time together is precious and Villa Elia was just the perfect place to relax and be in each other’s company. We were also adopted by a gorgeous cat who seemed to own the villa – we loved her and fed her for the week but she didn’t seem at all bothered when we left! George and his family were so helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Maria also made us a cake mid week, invited us to her studio where she makes jewellery and gave us all a gift before we left. When one of our group left their phone in a shop in Rethymno, George’s sister drove them down and helped locate it. Above and beyond! Such lovely people. Can’t recommend this villa enough – thank you George, Maria and the girls. Tips:- There is a bus stop on the left outside the villa for Rethymno (about 10mins) – the tickets can be bought at the supermarket (to the right of the villa entrance). Take time to wander around the back streets of Atsipopoulo if you can – it’s a beautiful old village – lots of photo opportunities. There are 3 very traditional restaurants in the village serving authentic Cretan food and the menus are not extensive but if you give a days notice they will get fish from the port or even cook a vegetarian dish for you (although they will worry about your health!) There is a souvlaki take-away and a pizza place too.

This is by far the best run villa we have ever stayed in

George and his family really care about you, your holiday and their villa. Nothing is too much trouble. Maria ( Georges Mum) sent in home made treats during the stay which is a lovely touch. There was nothing during our 3 week stay that I can say was even slightly wrong. The Villa is perfectly situated for popping to the bakers or supermarket and local tavernas or sightseeing as the village is 5 minutes from the main road Which takes you everywhere on Crete. Rethymno with its amazing old town and beaches is 10 minutes by car. We drove down some nights and got a €10 taxi back . We also caught the local bus (just outside the villa gates) into Rethymno. I cant rate this Villa highly enough.
