This is a great hotel to vacation at while in Brazil. The staff were courteous. The room was clean on a consistent basis. The restaurants in the hotel served good food as well. Location was central to a lot of things in the area. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Brazil.

Amazing hotel if in Rio

Excellent hotel, the staff were all outstanding with customer service- special shout out to Gustavo on the front desk! Right on the beach (you do have to cross a busy road) - lovely pool and excellent gym. Near the golf course and great shopping.

Restaurants were very good (all three) Overhead shower handle was broken, sink clogged on my last day, and rubber stripping was falling off the balcony sliding door, but I let them know when I checked out. Also, maid accidentally skipped my room on my last full day so I had to call Guest Services.

love the area calm and clean, the hotel is a little old the bathroom handles were loose this shouldn’t be. maintenance of the hotel needs to be improve

Disliked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities
I was honestly expecting more from the Grand Hiyatt Rio. The only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because the staff was extremely polite and accommodating. We originally booked an ocean front room but they placed us on the 2nd floor next to the highway. It was so loud - my partner and I could not sleep at all. We ended up switching to an Ocean view instead which was much better but the online photos of both rooms were misleading. Beware of this when choosing your room type. Unfortunately, both rooms we occupied had a slight scent of mold that my partner and I noticed immediately. This is ultimately why I will not be booking again. I’m fine spending a large amount of money for a luxury experience but this stay fell short of “Grand”.
