This is an all around great place to take your family for a beach vacation. We especially loved the outdoor space. The younger kids and adults especially liked the Lazy River. We were here during the off season and the weather was not the greatest due to hurricanes, which did not allow us to go to the beach beach for most of our trip but with the option to heat the pools it made it one of our best beach trips yet. The house was very clean and the property manager was great, very accommodating and accessible. We will definitely be staying here again.

None of us old people used the pool or actually got into the sea, but we walked the beach daily. The ocean view was spectacular and many of us got up each morning to view sunrise. The kitchen layout worked well for us, with a good selection of pots & pans, and plenty of dishes and silverware (only ten of us attended) and nice that we all fit at the table together. Mostly we all hung out together on the third floor, worked jigsaw puzzles when not on the beach or gone fishing.

Family Gathering from several states...

We had a blast! The Lazy River was the most talked about and used amenity. Even though it was colder than what we planned we loved it at Rio Rodanthe. No reason to go anywhere else. We all had a fanastic time.

Good vacation

Everything was very nice with the exception of the pool, it had so much algae in it that we stayed out on the beach most of the time. House was very nice and the pool could have been in good shape with some attention.

Fabulous Family Vacation

This property blew away our expectations. All 15 of us had a fantastic time. From the hot tub to the lazy river. The house was exactly as described and had ample room for everyone to dine inside and outside together. The private beach access is a huge plus. Perfect neighborhood, great quiet location. Can't wait to book another vacation there!

Perfect house for beach vacation.

We had a wonderful week, we had four generators from 18 months to 83. The house is great for watching the sun rise, watching family playing on the beach, sitting under the cabana talking with family, we renamed the baby pool the adult lounge. Highly recommend can’t say enough great things. The property manager was great during the hurricane with information. Anyone booking this house you won’t be disappointed, this is our second visit.

Great house, even under construction

We were sold on the size of the table - big enough for four families - and loved so many other perks! Direct access to the beach, tons of room to spread out, and handicap accessibility was a great perk. Our whole group from 9 months old to early 40s had a fabulous time on our winter visit! The lazy river was under construction, and a lot of local establishments were closed during the off-season, but we had access to all the food we needed with a little advanced planning on our outings.

Amazing outdoor area, great oceanfront property!

The outdoor area is absolutely amazing. We paid for water heating for our October stay and it was well worth it, the pool was quite comfortable and the river feature was very popular with everyone. The ocean was definitely comfortably close, and it's short walk to the pier. The layout of the home was great, especially the living room/dining room. The reason for four stars instead of 5 is a little maintenance is needed - a number of the mattresses/beds seem to be at the end of their lifespan, and the floor of the lower level bathroom needs repair. But this is a great home for a family get together.

Absolutely wonderful!

Whether you have been to the Outer Banks before or this is your first time, Southern Breeze is a wonderful place to stay. It has all the accomodations one can think of needing. And the owners are extremely accommodating and respond immediately if there are any needs or questions. It is extremely clean for a beach house rental and even if house cleaning service is needed during your stay, they will be there as soon as possible. Rodanthe was the perfect location for us as it has the peace and tranquility of privacy and you are not on top of the neighbors. It is about halfway between Kitty Hawk and Ocracoke Island which makes your adventures easier to get to. It is a great place for a family retreat. I highly recommend and would rent again!

Amazing Extended Family Vacation

Our family (13 adults, 4 littles) just finish a week at his property. Plenty of room to spread out, yet common area were large enough for together time. The house is awesome, but this spot for us was really about the outdoor amenities and location! Pics are deceptive, as the house we much closer to the beach than we expected. Great views of the waves from all decks, and the crashing waves lulling us to sleep each night. A highlight of the trip was a bonfire s’mores night right on the beach with our whole crew. The pools were prefect for the adults and the littles, and the heat feature made them comfy even during the cool nights. Location was quite and felt remote. Thanks Swackhammers for an awesome stay.

Most good, one disappointment

Overall the house was nice and relatively clean. The view was absolutely beautiful! When we had any issues the response was quick and helpful. One issue was that the DVD player didn’t work, so they brought us a new one. We had a leak from the upstairs toilet down to the bedroom below and that was fixed within a day or so. The kitchen was well equipped. We had 14 people and everyone could eat together. There was enough room to spread out and many outside activities. We had bad weather - very cold and windy but we managed to get outside and go to the beach here and there. The only real disappointment was that we paid for the pool to be heated and it wasn’t working until Tuesday afternoon when the pool guy came and said it wasn’t on. He turned it on. Once he turned it on, the pool was warm by Wednesday morning and we were able to swim from Wed - Friday. We asked for a refund for Sat - Tuesday when the pool was not heated (yet we paid for) but we have not received a refund or a reply confirming we would. I’ve asked multiple times and I received mostly silence except a response that they’d check on it several days ago..nothing since. My last requests for an update has gone unanswered. I waited as long as I could to do this review in hopes that I would get a reply and refund but it has not happened yet. I am very sad to write this in my review but it’s the principle. I am still hoping to get a response.

Great location for a family vacation.

We have zero complaints about this house and location. We had 2 families total of 13 people. Kids ranging from age 1-8. The lazy River and easy beach access was perfect for our family. The lazy River and pools were a hit with the kids. Beautiful views of the sunrise and sunsets. Washer was broke BUT we always pack extra clothing and the property manager was very responsive and we had a new washer by Tuesday morning. It’s always risky taking vacation in the Outerbanks during hurricane season. The roads were still a little flooded in parts this week(normal for hurricane season) . If you stay anywhere in this area and you go during hurricane season it’s a must to keep a close eye on the weather and stay fueled up in case you need to leave. We look forward to the next vacation at this property.

Wonderful family vacation

We loved the house and the location. We were there in April, which is the off season, but the weather was great. We loved the heated pool and lazy river, which the owner took care of so we didn't have to mess with any controls. We rented bikes and enjoyed the sidewalk all along the main road. A quick walk back and forth to the beach. Would absolutely stay here again!

Great setting for a memorable week with family. Plenty of space, great views, great beach. Pool was wonderful for cooling off and the jacuzzi was enjoyed by all. Truly an ideal house for families of all sizes. Easy drive to lighthouses, Ocracoke, and Kitty Hawk. Plenty of great seafood too. Awesome location, great outdoor space- just a few issues

The house was great for our family and friends to stay, it was a great location to the beach. We had some issues with the pool not heating well, had someone finally come out on our last day to look at it, still didn’t get warm enough. Also had no propane when we were making dinner one night, we started making burgers and then it ran out so we had to run to the store to finish cooking our food. Enjoyed our stay, just these few items would have made it even better.
