We absolutely loved our stay at Snug Harbor! We were warmly greeted by Sam, Holiday and their sweet yellow lab, Burr. What a cozy, cabin on gorgeous Flathead Lake with a beautiful view of the mountains. The cabin sits right on top of the lake with a lengthy walkway from dock to dock where we enjoyed jumping and fishing from. We stayed end of June/early July. They had just had snow two weeks prior in Glacier (hour away), so the water was chilly...but refreshing. The expansive lake is so beautiful and clear. The pictures of the cabin were a good representation of it. It reminds me of what a cabin should be... nothing super fancy, but cozy with all the essentials. It was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Our boys enjoyed having the loft to themselves.
It was wonderful to have the paddle boat, canoe, floats and life jackets available to us. We fished on and off throughout the day - casting from the dock. My husband even caught a perch! There are lake trout to be caught - further out where it's deeper. We rented a jet ski from Matt at Boat Rentals and Rides. It was a 25 min ride across the water to the cabin - easy to navigate along the highway/shoreline. We also had the benefit of Hunter visiting his parents. We had a wonderful evening with their family out on the lake. Each night we enjoyed smores over the fire pit. We loved ending our days sitting out there with the fire enjoying the cool MT evenings.
Sam and Holiday are constantly cleaning the property and watering the plants. The yard is pristine. They are personable but really respect your time and privacy too. We enjoyed our chats when we saw them. They couldn't have been better hosts. They were very helpful regarding hikes and how to navigate Glacier National Park. My boys already asked when we can go back to the cabin.
You have wonderful hikes nearby (Jewel Basin outside of Kalispell) and stunning Glacier National Park is only an hour away. Wow! We saw 8 bears (incl 1 grizzly bear), mt goats and big horned sheep. It's breathtaking. Great hikes too. Polson (Flathead Lake) and Whitefish (ski resort and lake) are great towns to visit as well. Make sure you try everything huckleberry (it's everywhere - smoothies, shakes, pulled pork, pancakes, licorice, etc.).
We cannot wait until our next visit to Snug Harbor. I would love if we could make it a yearly trip. It was just what we needed - rest, relaxation, lake time, mt scenery, cozy cabin and great hosts to visit with.
