This hotel is beautiful and in a perfect location for sightseeing. It’s near the Villa Borghese and right across the street from the American Embassy. But our stay was not without some problems. We booked the room well in advance of our stay but the room we were given was an “attic” room with a sloping ceiling taking up 1/3 of the space. I was exhausted from the trip and didn’t say anything until later in the stay when I had hit my head on the ceiling for the 5th time. Management was very responsive, offering a different room and a bottle of brut. Water in the shower ran hot and cold and there was no drawer space at all. Website pictures are very misleading and certainly no mention of an attic room. Had dinner one night in the dining room which was very nice. I love Rome and I’ll be back but it will be a different hotel.

First of all - don't pay extra for an 'Acropolis view'. You have to go out on your balcony to see it. Mostly you look at the strip clubs across the busy 8 lane roadway. If you do go out on the balcony it is incredibly loud with road noise. As a side note - the door to my balcony didn't seal well so the room was noisy as well. Changing rooms wasn't an option for me as the hotel was full (big American brand - lots of bookings even in the early season). The front desk did say they would check for me and get back to me later in the day. Which they didn't.
You can walk to many tourist sites from the hotel - it's only about a mile down a very busy road. Sure the sidewalks are filthy and the buildings graffiti laden - but I didn't get killed so you might not either. I was however extremely careful when anywhere near the street - the cars and motorbikes go really fast and don't seem to mind giving pedestrians a scare.
When housekeeping came to clean the room on day two we asked them to return later as we were napping. They said they could come back at 5. Apparently they couldn't because we never saw them again.
There are lots of local restaurants in the surrounding neighborhoods. Not so much in the hotel.
If you stay here with one of the many big tour groups you probably don't have a choice - so just try to enjoy it. Plan to head for the elevators early. Or get on the first one even if it is going up when you want to go down. Eventually you'll make it to the lobby. Good luck!
