They mixed up the rooms and then were quite rude when we enquired about WiFi, disappointing customer service overall for what we paid

Filthy room and filthy man

Ian the owner is a rude, horrible man who lies. We booked 2 nights and on arrival the room was horrible. Pubic hair and dust everywhere. We left straight away as room was disgusting. Ian was rude and I have a disability and he tried to close door on me. He said he would refund 1 night to us but after we left Rotorua he didn't. We have pics to prove it. Would not recommend this guy and his rooms to anyone. He is a gutless man who rips people off.

Nice room, located alittle bit out of town but not an issue as its located around most of the major motels. Rooms were nice and tidy and proprietor was welcoming and accommodating. Would recommend.

Not what the photos look like

I should have read the reviews prior to booking this so that was my mistake. It was overpriced for what it was. Essentially a converted garage. Furniture was outdated. The whole place smelled like bleach. Dead bugs and cobwebs everywhere. First thing owner said was don’t make a mess because I can’t get a cleaner in this weekend. Free breakfast is a cheap loaf of brown bread with butter.

Great stay!

We enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were clean and we appreciated having a washer and dryer in the space. One night was very cold and the owner brought us additional blankets. This apartment is in a great location - off the main road so it is quiet but very close to activities, shops, and restaurants.

Changing country when booking online doesn't change currency from USD. Surprise surprise!

On arrival 5pm I was met by owner?/cleaner who had just made up bed & was about to clean bathroom. Rank cleanliness as low 2 Maintenance in unit needs some attention. Professionalism - owner/cleaner comments about previous guests 😕

The place was dated with old appliances and facilities. It was a little unclean at the start of the stay also. Being on a busy road with a lot of truck movements and staying during the work week the whole place shook every time a large truck drove past so a light sleeper would struggle to sleep.

Quite and Private -- a good value for the money

The owner met us and invited us to walk with him and his dog over to a nearby forestry research center next to the Whakarewarewa Village we had just visited (a must see in Rotorua---Take in the Haka war dance). There is a large redwood forest near the property that is popular for mountain biking/hiking. He gave us great suggestions of places to visit nearby and provided some brochures. We went to Blue and Green Lakes the next day driving through a dense tropical like forest. We also drove to the Wai-O-Tapu thermal area and hiked all around--geysers and hot pools were spectacular.

Atsala Apartment

Really enjoyed the stay. Great place if you have younger kids as they can play outside in a safe environment. You don't need to worry about them being a bother to other visitors.

Wouldn't stay here again. Was very over priced. Bathroom was not cleaned well and shower head, taps etc were corroded and felt dirty that I didn't even want to shower. Bedroom had lots of dust and cobwebs and bin was still full from previous guests.

Not so clean...

We were told that we would have a King bed, 2 singles & sofa bed. We had a queen bed not a King. The apartment was dirty, to be honest there was a spider in one bed and pubic hair/hair and dust on the bathroom floor. The kitchen handles and floor were dirty, we ended up going to the supermarket for cleaning products and cleaned. Breakfast was included - This consisted of a loaf of bread & 4 packets of cereal for 2 days and 5 people. When we tried to check out at 8.30am there was no one there. Unfortunately the pictures were saw on the website were not what was reflected when we arrived, very disappointed.........

Photos are not what they seem

late booking but friendly staff The photos were very miss leading which was disappointing but worse was the lack of hot water and cleaning, being the only guests we were shocked to have had enough hot water for 1 of 4, to shower once the water did not get hot at all over night, cob webs throughout the house and even previous guests underwear left in the room With this we left having already paid for an additional nights accomodation

Worst place in NZ

Out of 5 different places we stayed in NZ this was by far the worst. We had n heating for the first night.as heater was broken. It was freezing, about 0 overnight, not much higher during the day. The apartment was dirty. The dvd player did not work on first night and we had hired dvds to watch. The owner did not gie us much peace as he came to the door many times about one thing or the next. The next day a plumber had to access our room to fix the heater, the owner finally arrived with a new dvd player but did not know how to set it up. He also entered the apartment with a stranger uninvited while we were there. The owner needs to get a professional cleaner in after someone has stayed in the apartments, get technical support in to fix things, he needs to give people space, he needs to have better ventilation as the condensation was terrible. The high price for the stay was not good value. I would not recommend this place to stay to anyone. The best thing about this apartment was (3 working burners) out of the 4 burner gas stove. Also handy to town.
