“After initial booking, don't expect much more help from the booking agency. And if French is not your spoken language, hire or ask a french speaking friend to help with booking the vendors. The recommended caterers are ok. Book the times 30 minutes earlier to ensure it's on time. And make sure ALL details are in writing and explored, or you may be disappointed.”

“La Partoucie is a fantastic property and set in the most beautiful grounds. We spent most of the time outdoors where there is ample space to sit in the shade or to relax in the pool. We would definitely recommend this property for a stay.”

“The most wonderful hosts and idyllic location. Beautiful huge garden, always plenty going on in what seemed like a very small town. Stephen and Michaela were so warm and welcoming and were very knowledgeable on the local area with some fabulous recommendations for food and things to do nearby. Great facilities and very clean house, even had an air fryer which is a proper luxury in France! There is so much in and around Confolens if you’re willing to look for it! Would stay again in a heart beat.”

“What a lovely gite this is. A hidden gem in rural Charente, and we absolutely loved our stay here at Chocolate Box Cottage. It is a beautiful spot. And if you want a quiet location, this is it. A real get away from it gite. It is wonderful, and we didn’t want to leave. Pros – this is a beautifully maintained gite / The kitchen and bedroom, are well stocked (although there is no dishwasher) / The garden is a joy to relax in with lovely different pockets to sit in / The sitting room is a great……

“Unser Aufenthalt in der gite "phoenix" war wunderbar! Die Gastgeberin sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Unser Berner Sennenhund hat das 10.000m² große komplett eingezäunte Grundstück mit dem kleinem Teich sehr genossen. Wir werden gerne wieder kommen. ”

“Lovely house situated in a very quiet area. Property was very clean and comfortable, well maintained with good furniture. Plenty of parking area. The swimming pool is great and kept clean with the owner working hard to keep it that way. Unfortunately, poor weather in September meant that we could not take a dip very often but we could relax outside. The pool table in the lounge was very inviting and well-used in the evenings. The donkey and pony in the adjoining field were friendly, particularly……
