Genuinely Costa Rican hotel

This hotel is very well-located, one block from Plaza Morazan. All the destinations in central San Jose are within walking distance, and yet the neighborhood is safe and quiet. Don't be fooled by the unimpressive entrance to the hotel. It has a very distinctive interior: hallways and stairs that veer off at strange angles, fresh air and huge plants along the way. There is a magnificent, large balcony on the second floor which some use for sun-bathing or reading but will be best remembered for over-looking one of the most attractive street-scenes in San Jose. The balcony also overlooks the famous "Yellow Building" (Costa Rica's Ministry of the Exterior). There is no air conditioning; there are ceiling fans. The TV sets are small, but Rincon does not offer look-alike, international hotel rooms. This hotel is part of the more genuine experience of a foreign environment, and the hotel workers make it a pleasant experience. L'Amistad Hotel is cheaper than Rincon but it is a long, steep, uphill hike from Rincon and it is in a noisy, high-traffic location. Rincon's small restaurant "El Jardin" (semi-outdoors, surrounded by a typical Costa Rican garden) offers gluten-free food, which could be important for some travelers. The free breakfast is a buffet with ample food. Laundry service is available but takes time. Very clean hotel. Spent a week and never saw a single mosquito.

Dormire in una vecchia casa coloniale? FATTO!

Questo albergo è stata una rivelazione. Un piccolo gioiello coloniale dove l'atmosfera è familiare e la gentilezza del personale unica. Angie (alle reception) è gentilissima. Le camere grandi e pulite. Un posto veramente magico.

Cute place. Great price, location and service.

Great people. Would stay here again. Can hear the main gathering room noise/talking from my room but all was always quiet by 11pm or earlier. Great free breakfast for guests.

Friendly but basic

I visited for work. Neighborhood - Quiet but a 2 block walk, safe, to the nightlife. CLose to bars, museums and you can walk it to the bus stations. Hotel - older but in good condition. not too fancy but if you are ok with 3stars, you will be happy. Small tv, ok internet. Service - Great staff, friendly and helpful, use them to your advantage. Breakfast - good options, fruits, and pancakes, nice garden to sit into. Tips -You can take the Auasa bus from the airport to downtown for about $2, instead o f the $30 with a cab. email the hotel for details. -Watch out for the bad,hooker spots, in downtown. There are plenty of good spots, but know which bars to avoid. -Chubbs, its a great sports bar nearby. Bartender, Jessica-blonde, speaks perfect english.

Friendly, clean Hotel in the best location in San

We arrived on time and the receptionist knew who we where before we said anything, he was very helpful and efficient. My room was a good size and very clean, The sheets where crisp white heavy cotton which is my preference. I mention the cleanliness as i have stayed in many hotels of this advertised standard but the cleanliness is often dubious especially when it comes to the bed linen and towels, they are often thread bare and bad quality and it's difficult to tell whether they are clean. These where clean and fresh and for me always a great start to a holiday. Thank You Hotel Ricon De San Jose.

La comida es rica, las habitaciones comodas, el servicio por parte de recepcion muy buena. La ubicacio es buena, esta muy centrico y no hay mucho ruido de carros, en las nochea a unas cuadras no es tan seguro. Me parecio un lugar bonito, pero por el precio me esperaba un poco mejor la habitación. La recepcion de wifi en las habitaciones es un poco mala, tienes que salir a areas comunes para hacerlo sin problemas.
