Owner doesn't understand what it means to be a host
We stayed here because of the location, which was near an event we needed to attend... and because he allowed 2 dogs. It was a nice neighborhood. He was quite cheery as he gave me the key and looked through the condo. He even allowed us to check-in very early and leave very late. But as soon as he left we noticed other things that are out of line with VRBO standards, for sure!
The condo's fridge hadn't been cleaned. We had to take out rotting food and clean the plates. We didn't want to sit on one of the dining room chairs as it was just too dirty.
When we headed for bed, the one sheet on the bed was old and stained, as was the comforter. We couldn't even entertain the thought of sleeping on the bed as it was. I tried to contact the owner but he never did respond to this issue. I ended up driving across San Jose to the nearest Target to pick up sheets and a blanket.
The rug through the condo was very old and surely hadn't been cleaned in a decade.
One of the sinks in the bathroom had signage not to use it. In the middle of the night I did use it and could hear water draining down. We looked under the sink and saw that the pipe was not connected and a pail was placed under the open pipe.
We almost didn't mind that the owner lives in the place and his personal items were in every nook and cranny.... he does have a lot of interesting things to see.
