Very centric location. Property is very cutely decorated. AC worked good. Hostess very attentive. The only setback was the karaoke place across the street. We stayed in the Marilyn suite and could not sleep before 1 am Friday night because of all the noise.

I never leave property reviews, but our stay at Casa of Essence was a wonderful experience. The location is fantastic -- old San Juan is right outside the door and there are beaches only a ten minute walk away. The staff were incredibly helpful and polite, and overall I could not recommend this property enough. It made our trip to San Juan memorable, relaxing, and fun.

We loved the location of this hotel. It is steps away from Plaza de Colon. Walking to the National Historial sites was easy. We also walked to everywhere we wanted to visit in Old San Juan. The hotel is close to restaurants and a taxi stop. Our room (the Golden Suite) was clean and decorated in golden scheme. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spacious (though shower was a bit cold to us and the vanity sink was draining super slowly). There is another sink in the suite which is helpful. The elevator was functional but very old. There was no front desk but Check-in (and out) was easy with codes. The hotel responded to my inquiries via Expedia before my stay but not timely a couple of times. Overall, communication with them was fine. We truely appreciate the convenience that we could leave our luggage in the building after we checked out. That spared us much trouble and made it possible for us enjoy several more hours of sightseeing in Old San Juan.

Room was small but had everything you could need. We were not there to hang in the room so it was not an issue. The patio made it feel bigger. We enjoyed morning coffee sitting there. The bird aviary below balcony was a nice addition to the lovely building. The room was very clean and in a great location. Would definitely stay again

This place was a little gem in Old San Juan. The room was absolutely tiny, but we weren't in it much. We had our own little interior patio right outside our door, not a balcony, which was perfect as we didn't hear any of the local nightlife on a busy Fri/Sat night. We were an easy walk to the cruise port and also had easy access to all of Old Town. I loved it and we would definitely come back again! I just wish there was some actual coffee to go with the coffeemaker.

Overall, we had a great experience and would return next year. Casa of Essence is a charming, family owned and operated property with a lot of character. The space is decorated with antiques and classic pieces, and each room or suite has its own unique design, which we really appreciated. Our room had a bohemian feel and included a comfortable trundle. The queen mattress was firm and the linens were spotless and clean. It is an older building with some modern improvements still in progress, which is understandable and did not take away from our comfort. We did encounter a minor issue during our stay, but it was handled promptly and professionally. We also noticed dead roaches, which we understood to be a sign of recent fumigation. The host was kind, welcoming, and very responsive, especially when answering our questions about the area. The location is excellent, particularly during La Sanse. Plaza de Colón is right outside, yet we had no noise issues at all, which was impressive given how lively the area can be. Calle San Francisco isnear great restaurants (easy access to food and beverages, vendors, the Haitian Gallery and the Maritime Museum, footsteps away from El Morro, and safe walking distance from the Marina and La Perla. We are only deducting one star due to the minor issues mentioned, though the room itself was very clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared. Overall, everything was beautiful, and Casa of Essence offers a unique, well-located, and memorable stay.
