We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with any request or question. The cleanliness was exceptional—every area of the hotel was spotless and impeccably maintained. The amenities were excellent and added to the overall comfort and enjoyment of our stay. The location was perfect, making it easy to explore the surrounding area and enjoy everything nearby. One of the highlights, however, was the hotel’s spectacular décor. Every detail seemed thoughtfully designed, creating a unique and elegant atmosphere. We also loved learning about the hotel’s rich history, which added so much character and charm to the experience. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. We would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and comfortable stay.

This place is not a hotel , lighting is dark throughout. They have a 2 feet splash pool . I ended up with unexpected charges like I didn’t know they charge resort fees for what ???? And I was running late on checkout another $75 and I was informed if I needed more time even 10 minutes I would be charged another $75.

Boutique in the sense that it’s small, but service so lacking it just became a place for us to sleep and leave early each day. Rubbish check in experience, room wasn’t ready then was magically ready - we met the cleaning staff at the door to our room… Note we arrived at 4pm, (check in time) and had preadvised we’d be landing around 2.30pm so they had plenty of notice. No first time welcome/ tips / offer to help with reservations or excursions. Member of staff training at the desk was not well prepared and that definitely impacted our welcome experience. Over our four days there, no one greeted us when we entered and exited the foyer/ reception area. Rooftop pool area basically unserviced. We had to go to the foyer bar to order, the drinks were then brought to us at the pool after a long wait, no tray, served in beautiful glassware (despite us being IN the pool). We also then couldn’t charge the drinks to the room so had to go to back to the room to grab a card. Piano player in the foyer on Friday evenings - playing to no one. Breakfast - stale croissants and muffins and a few loose piece of fruit. Finally the area where this hotel is located would not be my first choice when I return to PR. Long stretches of sidewalk with little to no street lighting, homeless people and super residential so as a tourist you feel rather out of place. Nearby restaurants also close at 10pm so make your reservations early or go hungry!

My stay at Don Rafa Boutique Hotel & Residences was overall good, but there were definitely some positives and negatives. The room was okay, although not quite what I expected. There was only a small loveseat and no table or convenient place to set drinks or personal items. The service, however, was excellent throughout our stay. The staff was friendly and attentive. The rooftop restaurant was very good and is something I would definitely recommend checking out. One downside was that the pool was closed most of the time we were there, which was disappointing. Also, the light switches in the room were oddly placed and hidden behind doors, making them difficult to find. The bathroom was very small, and the sink water pressure was very low. Overall, it was a decent stay with excellent service and a great rooftop restaurant, but there are a few improvements that could make the experience much better.

Don’t be put off by the small hotel entrance! A quirky art deco style hotel opened up from Reception. Staff are all great especially Vincent who welcomed us last on our arrival night. Breakfast choices excellent albeit in a small space - also doubled up as the ba area r- to accommodate everyone during busy periods. Added benefit of a pleasant small outdoor space with shade and plants for relaxing & also breakfast. Our 3 bedroom residence was spacious. Furnished with sufficient sofas, chairs & a large table in open plan kitchen. Bedroom with comfortable beds, but old style air conditioning units were noisy and not useful at nights. Utensils were sparse if cooking or eating in. A kettle would be miraculously for UK visitors but so welcomed. Bathroom well stocked but more rails/hooks for towels needed. Enjoyed fantastic steaks in the hotel restaurant one night but we struggled to find reasonable priced wines under $80 to pair. There were some entertainments provided during our 4 nights stay - a Spanish music & dance evening which was good. Location ok with a few nearby restaurants & bars. Convenient store a few minutes walk too. Ubers plentiful for exploring. We enjoyed our stay but may try different room types next time if revisiting San Juan for a cruise.

The staff were helpful, informative, and incredibly welcoming! We arrived earlier than we expected and they offered to hold our luggage for us, while also giving us recommendations on places to eat or visit while we waiting for our room to be ready. They had a wonderful live piano performance in the lounge while we were served drinks at the bar. It truly made our visit so much more comfortable! I highly recommend this stay!

Nice boutique hotel, with a cute lobby, however the entire point of a hotel is to sleep, and our room was the opposite of sound proofed, and the AC was really struggling. We told staff about the loud noise and weren’t offered to switch rooms, just that “the live music would end in an hour.” Will stay elsewhere if we ever go back

I'm selfishly hesitant to write this review due to hotel size and availability; would like the hotel to stay the same and not deteriorate from overuse. Hotel is in a great location, lobby and room decor beautiful. Atmosphere great. Mattresses not great. Hot water comes and goes. If they fix this great, but if they don't, the hotel would still be my first choice whenever I'm in PR. Love it. I'm a General Manager of a large hotel and appreciate the thought and effort taken by hotel owner and staff to make the hotel stand out in it's compset.
