Ultimate Jungle Experience


Tucked away in high forest location, the property has sloths, howler monkeys, tilapia pond, 7 waterfalls, birds of all kinds including toucans and fiery-billed aracari. An ultimate get-a-way for relaxation and jungle strolls amid the coffee farm and mature native rain forest. The patio has fantastic views of the Pacific ocean and breath-taking sunsets. You can take a dip in one of many water holes or enjoy some of the fruit off the native fruit trees. Your ultimate jungle experience.
The space
We have a 2 year old home with two Bedrooms and 1 ½ baths with kitchen and living room and large terrace overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Gas grill on back porch.

House is on a Coffee farm with over 35,000 plants. Waterfalls and jungle on the property. Important- a 4-wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended.

Superb place

Impossible to imagine the peaceful remoteness of Douglas' jungle home. Paradise inside of paradise, breath-taking views, and ultimate relaxation. Highly recommended!!

Need 4 wheel drive vehicle to get to it

I did not have correct vehicle to get to the house, thus did not stay there. Owner refunded about half of my payment (VRBO kept the rest). Left me in a bind as I drove to within a couple of kilometers of it , but property host cautioned me about entering w/o 4 wheel drive (could get in, but maybe not out). Dealing with the owner was time consuming with a number of texts before finally receiving a check.

Listing Should Say 4-Wheel Drive Vehicle Required

When you travel around Costa Rica, every attraction in the mountains says "4 wheel drive recommended". They're covering your you-know-what. We drove 1000 km all over the mountains and did plenty of roads that said "4 wheel drive recommended." So, when I booked and saw that I figured it was just another butt-covering. The listing should say "REQUIRED." We had a high clearance, front wheel small SUV. We drove about a third of the way down the road when we realized we better not go further. Some ticos (locals) actually came out to stop us from going further. They also had to help us get back up the hill by pushing and giving recommendations of what part of the road to use. Once out of that situation we had to find another place to stay and dark was falling. When I booked the place it simply said "4-wheel drive recommended." After they had one guest not make it and write a bad review I believe they added "HIGHLY" but I had already booked and did not see that change. I told the host it should say "required" and he said that they can drive 2-wheel vehicles up that hill. Well goody for them. I don't know what kind of 2-wheel drive (ie. horse power, weight, etc.) The fact is that we couldn't and we never stayed there and I feel they should refund my money. I am a 5 star VRBO host for 5 sm=years. Anytime a guest has a problem I find some way to compensate them and make things right. He should to if he wants to be a good businessman. VRBO wouldn't help either.
