We were a group of twelve writers on retreat and we had the loveliest stay. Comfortable, quiet, beautiful view, accessible beach for walking, and easy-to-use kitchen. Highly recommend.

Great house for our family
The house was perfect for our large family. We loved the huge kitchen table, the top floor gathering space, and the easy access to the private beach. A few minor updates would make the house 5 stars.
very comfy house. tons of room, a very short walk to a beautiful beach that's private for people in the neighborhood -- it was totally empty for our entire two week stay. well equipped kitchen. more cozy than fancy -- which we totally loved.

Spacious home on the Lake Michigan beach
Our extended family had the bedroom privacy couples wanted as well as multiple living space areas for bonding as a group. While there are many levels and stairs, the main level worked well for those with mobility issues in our group of 20. Great views of the lake and sunset. Easy access to family friendly, sandy beach.

Relaxing and Stunning Views!!!
We love this rental. We have stayed in many rentals on Lake Michigan and we all agree this is the Winner!!! Views are stunning and the access to the beach and lake are right on the property. The house is very clean which was a must. The hot tub although small was hot and so relaxing! The home is comfortable and homey.
Thanks for sharing this little piece of heaven!!

Wonderful home on the lake
Great location on Lake Michigan, nice friendly neighborhood, well stocked kitchen, wineries and breweries nearby. The house worked perfectly for our large extended family, with a main level (no stairs) bedroom and bathroom for my 93 year old mother. It would be a perfect 5 with some updating.

Could be great but needs help.
Really great location, spacious, and easy one minute trek to beach. However, it was rather dirty. Stained sheets, visible dirt and crumbs on floors and tables, food left in the fridge, etc. If it was a clean home it would have been a very nice place to stay in for a week!

Not bad overall
Great view and location. Handled the 20 of us well. Sliding doors were hard to open, especially for the children. Upper bunks in bunk house were not safe to use. Lots of maintenance/upkeep and deep-cleaning required throughout the property. There were a lot of cob webs outside around doors and deck railings. Decks need attention.

Amazing Location for a small Family reunion
We had a great stay for 5 adults and 4 kids. I would recommend the house based on the sunset views over Lake Michigan and the ease of access to the most gorgeous beach! It was a great location and not far from New Buffalo.
The house itself was a little bit dated, but generally comfortable. Everything was clean enough, but I feel like the floors could have used a better mopping before arrival. We had an issue with the pots and pans being unusable - the coatings were scratched and burned off. The management quickly had a new set delivered to the house. I am not sure why it took us complaining to have pans that didn't look like they were 80 years old... The other issue was the toilet in the downstairs Primary Bedroom. It didn't work - even after they sent a plumber to 'fix' it.
Some of the beach accessories were broken, yet remained in the shed. it would make sense for the homeowner to go ahead and remove non-functioning chairs + umbrellas. We were fine because we brought our own.
The last thing was the bedroom layout. The two upstairs bedrooms and one downstairs bedroom have en suite bathrooms. The 2 bedrooms on the middle level and one downstairs bedroom don't have attached bathrooms. We did not use the bunk bedrooms in the attached building on the deck.
The house was beautiful and comfortable for all 15 of us. The kitchen was well stocked with lots of equipment and serving dishes for prepping our Thanksgiving meal. We had a wonderful time

EPIC Stay in Sawyer
My wife and I have vacationed in the area for over 40 years; New Buffalo, Union Pier, South Haven, and Saugatuck, among other beautiful spots. Our stay in Sawyer was the best ever! Where else could 8 siblings and their partners stay together, each with a bedroom and most with a private bathroom? Beautiful private beach, amazing views of Lake Michigan, multi level, hot tub, and a super cool fire pit and deck for all to gather in the evening. It was everything we had hoped for! We want to do this every other year, as long as the owners are willing to rent it.
As advertised, this vacation property can house the masses! We had a very large group, and everyone was comfortable with a multitude of bedrooms and bathrooms. This home is especially well-suited for more than one family as sleeping arrangements are separated by floors, and the two bunk rooms are situated in a stand-alone guest house. Also appreciated was the well-stocked beach shed with chairs, umbrellas, a canopy, kayaks, beach toys including frisbees, and any kind of balls you can imagine, kites, life preservers and more. Beach access was perfect and nights around the natural gas powered fire pit on the upper deck, or around a beach bonfire were especially enjoyable. Although this house is older, everything is well-kept and supplied. The owner is obviously making upgrades as the kitchen refrigerator, both dishwashers, the countertop, and sink all seem new. We were grateful for the second refrigerator on the lower level for all of our beverages and overflow of groceries for our large group. Lastly, construction is nearing an end with the property next door. There was no work at all on the weekends and very little noise during the week as it appears that most of the remaining work is within the home.
We would highly recommend this home for a relaxing and functional beach getaway vacation for families.

2nd Base review (Gant group)
We loved the location of the house being on the lake with plenty of beach area. The house had ample room to accommodate our group and we had no complaints housekeeping wise, plenty of towels even beach towels, clean sheets and extra pillows. More than enough kitchen supplies (pots, pans, plates, glasses, silverware, etc.) But on a less positive note, this was our second year at 2nd Base and the house next door was under construction for the second year which caused some issues with noise and parking. There was also an issue getting the garbage picked because of the parking problem due to construction vehicles, I’m guessing the garbage trucks could not get close enough to empty the dumpsters. There are several decks attached to the house that are in dire need of repair and staining, this was the case last year and we were told the decks would be tended to last year but they were in the same condition this year. and lastly on the negative side there is a gas grill on the lower level that was not functional either year. We did enjoy our stay at 2nd Base but I could only give 4 star rating due the needed improvements I mentioned, but if these improvements could be made I would definitely rate this house as a 5 star get away.
Great location for a wonderful beach vacation. The house was clean, expansive and well equipped. Beach access was fantastic.
Two significant problems: 1) there is a lot of deferred maintenance to be done on decking, screens and windows and 2) the lower level bunkhouse meant to accommodate up to 8 children in 2 rooms with 2 bunkbeds in each was burdened by a "septic" odor that was not easily tolerated for all, despite taking all the remedies suggested. It would be better to either solve the problem or not offer the bunkhouse.

Nice Place
Lots of "getaway" areas for a large group-- 3 gathering spaces, 4 outside decks, private uncrowded beach.
