Good things come in small packages!

Tiny but oh so much fun for the little ones! Our 4 year old grandson didn't want to leave. Be aware street parking was not closely available. Lots of hot water but water pressure in bathroom was poor. Property well equipped with everything for children!

Beautiful

This was perfect for our family. Although our kids are a little older (18 & 15) they loved the story book theme, they liked remembering reading all the old stories and talking about them. The town is beautiful and everything is within walking distance. We rented a 4 person bike and road up and down the bay. The views from the beach were breathtaking. While walking one evening we even saw a family of Orcas in the bay. Public transportation was easy and parking was no issue.

Adorable

It's hard to find good kid-friendly places to stay, but this place was perfect. The themed rooms were well executed and my kids loved it. It was perfect for our family of 5.

For the Little Ones!

Adorable cottage with obvious creativity and a focus on readers, especially the little ones. It is the perfect spot to land and visit with others.BYO items like coffee, lotion, and if you are 5’ ish and over 60, a mirror!Be prepared to make a high climb on slippery footing to exit the vintage clawfoot tub.

Such a fun visit!

The house was amazing, the kids loved the themes and SO MANY books to read! The location was also great, walking distance to the beach, great restaurants, with parks & playgrounds just a block away. The proximity to the shuttle for taking a water taxi to downtown Seattle was another great bonus. We can’t wait to come back!

Adorable and walkable, family-friendly

We had a great time in the Storybook house! It is walkable to the beach which was so fun for our landlocked kiddos. Lots of restaurants down by the water- we enjoyed Chupacabra for tacos. We did have a couple worries with our toddler- some unsecured furniture was a bit sketchy with her wanting to pull on things. There is no dishwasher, just an FYI. But the closet off the "master" was big enough for a pack-n-play! And they provide a mini crib with mattress/sheets which was nice. There is also a high chair. We were on a long road trip and did multiple loads of laundry during our stay with no issue. Overall, the kids (and grown-ups) loved the creativity and enjoyed our stay!

Perfect place to bring kids - location great for parents, too!

We loved our stay at storybook house. Parking was easy but we didn’t need to drive anywhere because it’s so close to everything on Alki. Beds were comfortable and it sleeps like more than a two bedroom. Kitchen was stocked with everything needed to cook. We also loved being able to sit on the back porch inside the fenced space. Will definitely be making another trip back to storm watch!

Cozy and Creative Stay with Some Quirks

The house is unique in that it features special decorations, with each room inspired by a classic book. We appreciate the owners' effort in remodeling the house and their attention to detail in creating a literary-themed experience—we love it!Another positive aspect is the location; it's very close to the beach, great restaurants, and the water taxi that takes you to downtown Seattle.However, we want to inform future renters that this is an old house, and there is a noticeable smell. The manager explained that it’s natural due to the house’s age. It was difficult for us on the first day, but we eventually got used to it.

Unique stay in Alki

If you have kids who love to read, this is a wonderful spot. The house is old, so it’s a bit quirky, but generally well-provisioned. We stayed with 4 adults and a toddler. The house would work best for one family with kids, with parents in the Harold room and kids in the Wild Things. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed, although note, no dishwasher. It was a wonderful location - a 5 min walk to Alki and all it has to offer. We were pleased with the house and would stay again if we were traveling without Grandma and Grandpa!

Great location, a few issues, parking nightmare

The Storybook House on Alki Beach was okay. The book-themed decor was charming and gave the house a fun, whimsical vibe. The place was clean when we arrived, with the exception of some dirty sheets left on the pull-out couch. A bit disappointing but not a deal-breaker. The location is definitely the highlight. It’s close to the beach and within walking distance of some great little cafes. However, parking was a real challenge. If you’re not confident parallel parking on a busy street, this may not be the place for you. Unfortunately, there were a few issues that made the stay less enjoyable. Ants were a constant problem, and they got into the food we had brought. The bedroom door handle kept falling off, which was frustrating. It was also pretty hot inside the house, and with no AC and only two fans for three sleeping areas, it made for some uncomfortable nights. Overall, it’s a cute spot in a great location, but the maintenance and comfort could definitely be improved.

Spring break

Things were greatly decorated. Underneath and between the couch cushions need to be cleaned .We found popcorn and hair , puzzle pieces under the couch. The chairs in the kitchen were cute .Bench And 1 pink chair is very unstable . We found dishwasher soap, no dishwasher. Oven door was very low, as if broken . Dishes were slightly unwashed, previous food stains . Needed potholders and trash bags . Vent under the kitchen table kept popping off we slept very well And safe from the cold. Great quiet location.Thank you.

So, you can’t beat the location. The theming is also very sweet, and the house itself is charming. We showed up an hour after check in, and the maintenance guy was there. We didn’t know he’d be there or what he was working on, but he was friendly and only stayed another 20 minutes. Still, a heads up would have been great. After he left, we realized the toilet was (still?) clogged. We unclogged it, and it was fine the rest of our stay. I agree with what a couple other people have said. The place needs a good clean. I’m probably the least likely to say something like this, I’m okay if a place isn’t perfect and didn’t expect perfection at all with an older bungalow. We had an ant problem upon arrival as well, we notified vacasa and they did offer to send someone out. Seeing as how we were there limited time and had only had the place to ourselves since 5:40pm and didnt want someone to spray the kitchen with raid or something similar, we just cleaned them up ourselves and made sure to keep our garbage outside. The part that really frustrated me was when we asked where the assigned parking was (the ad said “parking for one vehicle only”) we were told that the assigned parking was street parking. This isn’t just highly misleading (you could park as many vehicles as you want to, it’s public street parking), it’s really just plain old false advertising. It’s not the full reason we rented this place, but being this close to the beach with parking is a huge selling point.

AMAZING Location - Home is old, expect old home things

This home worked well for our family, very kid friendly and cute as heck. The location could not be better. Truly, the home could just use a once over. Cleanliness was decent but the couches could use a good vacuum beneath the cushions and all furniture needed some cleaning underneath. It's an old home and that's charming but when it comes to be inconvenient, fix 'er up! The old/cheap furniture looks nice but is not practical. The bench seat at the dining room table is horribly wobbly with one leg on the verge of breaking. One of the two pink wooden chairs is falling apart at every joint. The blue metal office chair in the living room is SUPER wonky. The door knob to the master bedroom from the living room fell off when trying to pull it closed. Doors are all quite sticky and loud, and thank goodness we are a tight family that didn't mind mentioning to everyone "I'm going to the bathroom" before going in to ensure there were no walk ins (no locks and the bathroom connects the two bedrooms). The oven door is not sitting well so hot oven = hot door as it does not seal. The very heavy mirror in the master bedroom is cute, but was just sitting on the floor with a screw and big whole in the plaster wall above it. Overall - beautiful home, amazing location, just needs a little love. We will return to Alki Beach, definitely, but will likely spend a bit more and get a more updated home.

Not a storybook ending for our family

I’m sorry to say we won’t be staying at the storybook house again. We were so excited as the theme is great for kids! It started with the lack of parking when we first got there - the listing said 1 designated parking spot, but when we got to the house - there was no spot. I called Vacasa and they said it’s not designated - it’s first come first serve street parking (that was mentioned for the first time in the email you receive the day before - past the cancellation window - I had not gotten the email the day before as we were traveling and got everything else In text message) after many calls and “chat” messaging I was told someone from the local team would call me. No one ever did. I would note when we got back to the house from dinner (we had 3 hungry children with us when we got there), there was the spot that was “designated” available. We never had another problem parking in the “designated” street parking. But never heard from Vacasa again. We also had a plumbing issue with the one toilet - never heard from them either. We just dealt with it. Beware there are 2 chairs at the kitchen table - if you are planning to eat at the same time bring your own. Luckily they did leave 2 tower fans - but it did not appear the windows in the front room open. There was only 1 screen on 1 window - so if you don’t mind bugs or spiders - feel free to open the rest. It really is a cutely painted house in a great location, but there are other options that would be better.
