This is a really interesting place to stay! The beach has a ton of sea glass that washes up, and in low tide you can climb on the rocks to see tide pools. The hike is challenging and satisfying. Make sure to make arrangements with the water taxi and to get all the food and water you will need.
Stunning view of Resurrection Bay. Very strenuous climb to cabin so only pack what’s needed. Very overgrown path to outhouse. Beautiful beach area with kayaks. Wished the weather was nicer…
We stayed 3 nights at the Fox den with our family during a 2 week road trip. This was hands down our favorite place! We saw whales, porpoises, seals, puffins, star fish galore! Our kids favorite activity was fishing and looking for sea glass along the beach. Levi and Jeff are absolutely awesome people who run the whole operation. It blows my mind how they created this tranquil resort in the Alaskan wilderness!!!!
What grand experience this is. Ifrom the climbing ta the kayaking. Every year is prettier & prettier. Its always a pleasure w Levi around. He checks on you regularly & always friendly. Each year we stay alittle longer. Excited ta b blessed w this property twice this year.
always a pleasure with Levi
This was one of the highlights of our entire trip and one my favorite places that we have ever stayed. The cabin was great....beds were comfortable and the view is absolutely amazing.
We had our children with us (8 and 4) and they had a great time. Spent hours looking for star fish and sea glass. It was rainy and windy so we didn't have a chance to kayak, but would love to do it when we go back.
Pack light.....lots of steep stairs, but not bad provided you are in shape.
Can't wait to go back!!
This is a magical spot. Once-in-a-lifetime beautiful. We loved the sea kayaking and all the wildlife we could see on the water—otters, puffin, Salmon, bald eagles. Other guests saw orcas. We picked up halibut and salmon at J. Dock in town to cook for dinner as well as other essentials at grocery—eggs, pasta, potatoes, coffee. Easy, comfortable camping. Slept well. No mosquitoes. Really special! Recommend traveling light to get up cliff staircase. Fox Den cabin had plenty of water in rainwater barrel, but also glad we brought our own (filled at Kenai Fjords visitor center). Highly recommend! Our young adult sons loved it!
Unforgettable Stay at Fox Den Cabin: A Wilderness Paradise. We will be back!!!!
Our stay at the Fox Den remote cabin on Resurrection Bay was nothing short of amazing. The property manager, Levi, was fantastic and incredibly helpful, truly making our experience exceptional. The wildlife was abundant, with sightings of eagles, hummingbirds, sea lions, and otters adding to the natural charm.
The property itself was impeccably clean, and the hiking trails felt like wandering through an enchanted forest, complete with well-marked paths. The beach was breathtaking, featuring a stream, sea stars, and stunning views of the ocean and mountains.
Our sea kayaking adventure, guided by Levi's expertise, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Communication was superb from pre-booking to the end, and we feel like we've made a new friend in Levi. We also enjoyed watching Jeff on "Building Alaska."
Relaxing by the fire pit made for delightful evenings, and the cabin was cozy and spotless. I highly recommend this property for a unique and unforgettable stay, just a short Seward water taxi ride away.
The cabin is lovely, very clean and well maintained. All as described. However, you should be prepared for a few things!
Boat drop off is a little hairy - if waves are high the water taxi will drop you very quickly (grab your stuff and run off the boat!) or may even decline to drop you on the little beach. This sounds like it's more of an issue at the end of August/early Sept shoulder season.
The hike is very steep. Bring a hiking backpack not a suitcase! If there is any chance of rain, be prepared to do this steep staircase and trails with all your stuff/drinking water in the mud!
My only other qualification is the cookwear could use a refresh.
If you are prepared for the above and are a fairly fit and hearty soul, you'll do fine. Once you're in the cabin it is comfortable, well designed, and has an absolutely beautiful view. Beds are comfortable and there is an assortment of condiments etc shared from previous stays.
The hike up to the ridge is lovely and also leads to majestic views.
I would recommend - just be prepared!
Beautiful spot especially with the clear sunny weather. Only suggestion would be to clear paths to outhouse better as ours was quite overgrown (We stayed at the Fox Den). Enjoyed Levi. Very nice and helpful.
Amazingly beautiful but quite challenging to get up to the cabin with gear but well worth it the Property manager is over and beyond knowledgeable and very helpful
Reservation was cancelled due to weather. We are grateful the owner was able to refund the reservation. The owner was very considerate and hope to stay there next year.
A sisters trip, a BFF outing & this year my husband and 2 teens. We hiked way up the mountain, had a picnic on the beach & caught fish off the shore. I cant imagine not spending some relax time on this property, at least once a year. Stunning views & comfortable sleeping. It's a must do for sure!
Loved the Fox Den. A stunning part of the world in the secluded wilderness of the Kenai Peninsula. A peaceful, off grid getaway, with just enough of the comforts of home. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Beautifully cared for slice of paradise with lots of charming touches. The property manager was so kind and helpful. He even assisted with getting our forgotten keys back on the next water taxi! I will absolutely be back.
Fantastic place to spend a few days, sounds of the ocean at night, sea kayaking, hiking to the top of the ridge and also just sitting on the porch or cliff and just observing. Will absolutely stay here again.
We used this cabin in addition to the main lodge for our wedding party. This little cabin was perfect, room for us and our two kids, and our gear. It had all the basics, though folks should understand it does not have electricity. But it did have rainwater available through a faucet and a little stove and all sorts of other things to make you comfortable. And the deck and views cannot be beat!!!!
Be ready to see wildlife too, eagles, whales, sea otters, etc. There was even a black bear that ran by the cabin. That made going to the outhouse a little bit harder, but bear spray was provided and the bear stayed away during the day. We loved our stay!
Just what we needed away from the kids! Was able to catch some rockfish in the kayak right around the point. Only suggestion would be a way to charge phones, just a simple solar panel with battery box would be very convenient.
Beautiful cabin. Great views with amazing wild life. Beautiful beach to relax, fish and play on with the dogs. Kayaked to Thumbs Cove. Couldn’t have asked for anything more. Lovely property and very accommodating!

Beautiful views and easy to check in and very clean!
Only thing to improve, path to outhouse was a little slick with all the rain.
Will definitely be back if in Alaska again!
We stayed at the Fox Den cabin for 2 nights. The view was like a moving picture, absolutely stunning. We enjoyed kayaking, beach bonfires, tide pooling and relaxing in the deck. The stairs to the cabin are steep, recommend packing everything in a backpack.
