The staff were absolutely amazing at this hotel, nothing was too much trouble for them especially at breakfast & dinner. The hotel is well located with some amazing views overlooking the hillside properties of Shimla.

Excellent choice of hotel for stay at Shimla. Though The Family Room was a bit small for a party of three adults, it was adequate for our needs. The breakfast choice and selection was plentiful and staff went beyond to cater for our needs and made our stay enjoyable. Dinner at hotel was one of the best. Food was absolutely delicious. I would definitely stay here again for our next visit.

A nice hotel, very clean and amazing views staff very friendly and helpful and could t do enough to make our stay comfortable Only issue to be aware of is the location. To get anywhere you need a taxi and even using uber you have ti wait a long time as drivers feel the hotel is too far out. A taxi to the Mall area will cost 700 rupees so you need to factor this in. It’s a good 20-39 min ride depending on traffic (took over an hour one day)

Premium Hotel Experience

The Orchid Shimla is a premier hotel with superior service, dynamic dining, and excellent creature comforts. The staff at Orchid Shimla is very well trained to anticipate and meet your needs. The front desk concierge Nikita is professional and efficient, she assisted us in arranging taxis to tourist attractions and to Mandi. The dining experience was delightful and delicious. Views from the dining room overlook Shimla valley which adds to the wonder. The pastry chef took time to answer our questions about unique Indian flavors, even showing us type of vegetable that, as Americans, we were not familiar with. Especially helpful in the dining room was a server named Aarte. She provided expert service, answered questions about foods, and made quality suggestions about menu selections. She also indulged me in trying to learn a little Hindu. Thank you, Aarte! The rooms were lovely. They were spotlessly clean. The linens were crisp and the beds were comfy. I highly recommend the Orchid in Shimla.

The hotel is located in a scenic spot between the hills of Shimla. The view from the terrace and restaurant is supreme. Rooms are very clean, hygienic and with all modern amenities. The hotel even provided small gift packets with fruits, cookies etc. One needs to pay extra for a room with a view. King size rooms are a bit smaller compared to other 3-4 star properties I have stayed in. The bathroom size and facilities are average as compared to similar 3-4 star properties in other cities. However it is very well maintained. The service is excellent; everyone from front desk to the restaurant is invested in making your stay pleasant. Even the hotel manager Mr. Rawat provides personal attention to the guests. The sauna and steambath facilities work well too. The pool is available albeit we didn't use it given the cold weather. A challenge is travel to and from the main city, given location on the outskirts. Taxis charge between 1000-1500 for a drop off to mall.road and pick up back to the hotel. The ride to mall road is about 20 min. The tours to relevant tourists spots such as Jakhoo temple, Kufri etc are readily arranged. I recommend using the same taxi service identified after you disembark at the train/bus station. This will save some time as ola/uber do not work in shimla. One needs to call the taxi service/driver to make a booking. He may take 15-20 min to arrive at the hotel. All in all, good views excellent service, with some challenge regarding access.
