COVID-19 has changed how we travel, but it hasn't put the brakes on our appetite for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to cope with the new challenges of traveling:

• Before booking anything, see if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your origin and destination. Get up-to-date information by reviewing government and airport websites.
• You're required to wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, including at security checkpoints. You should be prepared to lower your mask to verify your identity when asked by a TSA employee.
• Do not hand your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA employee. Rather, you should position the pass on the reader and then hold it up so the agent can inspect it.
• You can now take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your hand luggage. This will need to be removed for X-ray screening.
• Put any personal items (e.g, keys, phone and coins) in your carry-on instead of a bin to reduce handling during screening.
• Separate any food you're carrying for screening. Food items often set off the alarm. Placing them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA officer to touch and inspect your belongings.
