The room was clean, the AC unit worked great (important for me cause I like the room cold at night), the bed was on the harder side (the way I like it), and the staff was nice. I will say if you’re staying there for the free breakfast - it was basically cereal and a few muffins.

Basic necessities

The room was basic the air conditioning worked great. House keeping needs to clean between the bed & headboard I saw trash, paper and even an earbud someone lost. The breakfast was some muffins, cereal, bread to make toast no butter and a machine for coffee/tea. It was a cheap price so you get what you pay for in every aspect.

Where do I start. This place is a DUMP. Do NOT spend your money here. The place needs lots of work. Key card not working. Mold in ceiling. Gap in the carpet into the bathroom. The only reason I booked originally was a cheaper price for an ND game compared to in the South Bend area. I should have paid extra and booked somewhere else.

When I pulled back the bedding, there was a short, curly dark hair on my sheet, not on top of the bed, but inside. Where you sleep. I was reluctant to involve the front desk due to some yelling in the lobby when I was checking in. I put a towel over the sheet and slept on that. The vanity is in the main room, and it has a motion sensor light that is very bright and so sensitive that it turned on every time I changed position in my sleep, waking me up several times. This would have been even more annoying if there had been another person in the room! The toilet also has a motion sensor light, also very bright, in lieu of a night night. The last thing I want is a bright light to disrupt my sleep when I make a trip to the toilet. There was a non-stop loud drip in the tub. I ended up leaving early in the morning because slept so poorly, so I can't comment on the breakfast, which hadn't started yet. Considering that it is just coffee and some muffins (according to the clerk who checked me in), I don't know why they don't start earlier.

Never Again

The room smelled like an old ash tray, even being a non-smoking room. The soap was used and put back into an old wrapper. We opened the window to help with the odor and it was full of cobwebs. It was very noisy until late in the night and if I could have found another place to stay, we would have gone. There was a concert a nearby town and no vacancies. I will never visit another Econo Lodge, anywhere.

The bed was uncomfortable. It had cigarette burns in the sheets. We had no hot water for showers. The TV did not work advertise. There was cable there was not the TV was just fuzzy with no Internet connection. No nothing just a horrible stay here. We had no key to the room so we could not leave and come back. There was dark black hair in the shower. Neither one of us have black hair. The AC did not work properly. We had it all the way turned down and it never got comfortable in the room.

Where to begin. As we approached our room, our door was wide open. We had to check the room to be sure no uninvited guests or critters had entered. Once we closed the door, we noticed a giant hair ball stuck by the security lock. Yum! The toilet needed to be wiped down. The shower was more of therapeutic. Think garden hose trickle. God help anyone taller than 5ft5. The shower head had you feeling like buddy the elf tall. The tv didn’t work at all. The mini fridge was completely off. Oh, the microwave was a nice touch. It was outside down the walkway where it was “communal”. The overall comfort depends on how well you can rest knowing crack heads are close by and wondering if you might get stabbed. I think I slept a solid hour. The continental breakfast spread was the final touch. The spread included 4 pieces of bread, two pastries and some cereal. All in all, I would not recommend staying here. Hope we didn’t leave with bed bugs, just some memories of our time at the Econo lodge. I would recommend Freddie’s for dining. It was reasonably priced and delicious.

Check-in/out staff were great! However, recently a previous guest had blown the electrical crucuit to the outlets in half of the room. Staff tried to help but couldn't, as professional help was needed. Offered us another room, but with one of the bed frames broken (she did tell us this upfront). We declined that as we were tired and already settled in.
