“We had a great stay at the Bourbon Oak Smokehouse. Robert and family were quick to communicate, both with guidance about the house and about things to do and places to go in Bardstown. The house was neat and clean, and while there are imperfections, they simply add to the charm of a historic home. The house is within a short drive (though it can definitely be walked) to downtown Bardstown with all its shops, bars, and restaurants. It sits just far enough from the main street to be private and……

“It had snowed a couple of days prior to our arrival. The wooden walkway to the cottage had not been cleaned off. I kicked off most of the snow but it was still not safe for walking on (no rails). The only alternative was a deep muddy step.Fireplace was not working. It took two messages to the owner to get a response and all I was offered was an attempt to see if anyone was in the area to fix it. I never heard from owner again.The home has seen better days. Couch in living room area was saggy.……
