Very helpful reception staff very welcoming and informative. Room was very clean and ready for us. Bar and restaurant staff were also excellent attentive. We had an excellent meal, the bill needed a bit of sorting out as the system had difficulty sorting out the normal menu and the offered special but got there in the end. We were with friends ( who used to be in the hospitality industry) and overall we were impressed. Thank you to all at The Bear we will be back

Have stayed here several times over a number of years - staff are lovely, food tasty and rooms comfy… stayed in the main house for the first time and although the room was lovely, it was directly above the bar so there was some noise - maybe worth considering if wanting an early night! Otherwise a perfect stay x

We had the warmest welcome ever from reception here which was lovely. They had kindly moved us to a better room to avoid being disturbed by a wedding they had. The room was very comfortable and relatively recently refurbished. Good and efficient breakfast.

Hotel was bustling when we arrived. Receptionust was fruendly and check in was smooth. Room was well furnished, if a little tired. Its in a great location and we had access to everything we needed. All in all a great stay.

Very disappointed. The room was nothing like the pictures, it smelt old and musty, and needs a complete overhaul. Mould on the bath screen and around windows. Tapes dripped and were difficult to turn on and off. Bed seemed to be on a slope and you had to roll up and over a ridge in the middle. I was shown to a table for breakfast and brought tea and toast but the server never came to take my order. The only good thing about the hotel was the lovely receptionist who was so helpful, professional and friendly.

Did the online check in. Not so sure that's a good thing as the room we had a view of the car park, room 57. Couple in front of us, who checked in at the hotel were told they had a room with a great view. At that time, 2pm, we could not see our room (fair enough as check in is 3 onwards). We were meeting people else where so did not get back until after 5pm. The room was dated and the radiator did a good impression of Niagara Falls, very noisy, so had to turn it off. Told the receptionist on leaving who said she would report it, although I doubt this news to the hotel. In the morning went to make coffee, except there was none. As I paid £194 for the room it was very poor value.
