Seawatch Tower is an extremely charming, spacious, well-appointed house
with a huge backyard and a lovely saltwater pool steps from a wonderfully quiet stretch of Holden Beach on the West Side of the island. Nearer to the bridge, there is a lot of traffic and many more people on the beaches.
We loved the feeling of the house, with its wide-open common spaces and the natural wood ceilings in the bedroom.
Even in bad weather, the house has good TVs and common space for watching a movie together, playing boardgames, or just watching the storm pass. The master bedroom has a beautiful sunlit bathroom with a double whirlpool jacuzzi tub big enough for two. The kitchen is great for cooking for a big group, and the porches, my god! The front porch is great to hang out on, as is the back porch overlooking the pool and grilling area, then there is a crows nest—from there you can feel the wind and see the ocean. The property is surrounded by some scrubby woods where there is a lot of bunny rabbits and deer. One of the best things about the property is the feeling of privacy and solitude—unlike many other beach properties, you don't feel hemmed in by people or the surrounding beach houses. The pool was very clean and fresh and a pool maintenance guy came and cleaned the pool while we were there. Again, its a quieter part of the island, you can see all the stars at night, but its also just a short five minute drive to the pier and the holden beach general store where you can get charcoal, beverages, snacks and the newspaper. We had very nice times sitting out in the chairs, grilling out back and jumping in the pool in the evenings. And its only a two minute walk to a pristine stretch of the beach. I would absolutely love to stay here again.
