Our experience in downtown Sutton was interesting! We arrived at the Elk River Hotel an hour before check in time, so we called the number that was left at the desk. No answer, so we walked to the Braxton Bistro for lunch. Was disappointed that we couldn’t order a beer after our long drive, but our food was good. We stopped at the General Store on the walk back and picked up some great finds at a reasonable cost! Disappointed that the Big Foot museum was closed on Sunday. A man was waiting for us at the hotel when we returned. He walked us to the Lily Pond room in a building at the end of the street. Cute place! We then searched for the bar that was advertised on a sign by the street on the hotel property. Again, not open because it was Sunday. We then checked out the rest of the property. We were able to relax out in the sun by the table on our little porch and chatted with other arriving guests. Left the next morning before breakfast, but was able to pick up some grab and go items for the road. Overall a decent stay, but will stay at hotel with an OPEN bar and restaurant in the future.

What an intriguing town and the Elk River Hotel is definitely the place to stay in Sutton. Emily is a native and warm and welcoming and Francisco is a joy. Don't miss his delicious Latin breakfast which is included in the price. The website could use updating. The restaurant at the hotel is closed, though there is a weekend bar, and a good place to eat in town is the Braxton Bistro. The hotel is situated directly on the Elk River in a beautiful spot. Try the glamping unless you have dog. By the way, the real Flatlands Monster isn't an alien, but the railroad tie plant in town.

The grounds were very nice with yard games and fire pits. Nice area right on the Elk River. Cute little bar to relax and get a drink. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very good. The "dome"we stayed in appeared very clean, however, my only complaint was the "musty" smell. I should have asked for different accommodations (which would have given owners opportunity to fix the situation) but was very tired from driving all day so decided to put up with it for the night.

We stayed in one of the riverfront domes, it was an excellent setting. Domes are nicely setup, have everything you need and the heating/AC work great. Bar had a decent selection of drinks including wines, beer and mixed cocktails. Host was great and adjacent to the property there is EV charger. We live 9 hours away and would consider going back for a few days.

We had a wonderful time. The views were amazing. The rooms were clean and exactly as described. Fransico was very helpful. My only suggestion would be a tv in the bedroom also so if your child goes to sleep first the adults can continue watching tv.

I never saw a person. Never saw restaurant. Outside was in disarray. I was remotely checked in and given a dome via a phone call because the room I had reserved had no heat . There was minimal heat in the dome. There were no towels etc. I checked out the next morning at 8:15. Also had to call a number to check out and had to leave a msg. I requested a refund for my last 2 nights and have never heard back. I emailed the GM and was promised a refund. A week later, I still haven't received it. This was definitely NOT what was represented on Expedia!

At check in, nobody was there and we had to call a lady. First room she put me in had no heat and the second room she sent me to was locked, she had me go back into the main house and told me where to locate all of the keys. Once I located the key I was able to get into the room. The room was nice however the sheets are badly stained the floor didn’t seem very clean either. Also, the on site cafe is only open Tuesday- Saturday which seems silly as people travel on the weekend and would really appreciate breakfast on Sunday mornings.

The room is a basement suite and smelling. Didn’t mentioned in the online booking details. Microwave is broken. There was some water left in the coffee pot, and I noticed mold-like spots floating on top. It could be mistaken for oil, but it’s more likely mold from sitting water. Staff is nice.

Staff was super friendly and helpful, from the moment I got there, they actually came out onto the cobblestone street to help me find a place to park (they also run a nice Italian restaurant, so the street was full for my Friday night arrival). I stayed in the main building, which had an old-fashioned b&b style to it. All wood flooring, lots of windows, full sized bathroom, fancy king bed. I was there in winter, and that meant my room was a bit drafty upon entering it, but they had enough space heaters to make it feel comfortable rather quickly.

This was such a unique concept that I was really looking forward to. The Glamping dome was spacious and decently appointed. The bathroom is big, the beds were comfortable, and the view was very pretty. However, the heating source was not big enough to properly heat the Glamping dome. We attempted to get a good nights sleep with an inside temperature of 44 degrees. It was awful. I would’ve loved to have warmed up by taking a hot shower, but I didn’t even want to take my clothes off to do that! It was so incredibly cold that I had to turn the heat on in my car and sit until my hands we are warm enough and flexible enough to be operable. I would’ve liked to of shared this with the innkeeper in the morning, but when I went to return my key, there was no one at the desk. I would really like to request some compensation for this very uncomfortable inconvenience. The Glamping dome was advertised as being heated. I do not consider 44° as he heated.
