"Superior service from reception desk and waiters/waitresses. Reception desk will call you at night if northern lights are visible. And the northern lights bar is a lovely, open place to sit, day or night. Dinners were consistently excellent in the beautiful glass-enclosed restaurant, although only the fish changes each day. But we had the fish each night and each time it was superbly prepared. Seafood chowder and gull cheese are stand-out appetizers. Terrific thermal pool."

"Ironically the absolute best place we stayed in all of Iceland. Amenities like a kitchen and hot tub and just the amazing view made this extremely worthwhile. Very clean and well maintained. Staff was very friendly and responsive to my questions. Even providing suggestions. Location was perfect for the Golden Circle. So dark at night we saw the Northern lights in late August. We loved this cabin. Would definitely come again."

"The room was very nice and well-maintained. Gorgeous view. The shower was good. The breakfast was simple compared to other guesthouse breakfasts I had on my trip; however, it featured whey protein which was a fun inclusion! The ice cream bar was nice. Eating in front of the cows was a funny experience. The hot tub was not in any shape to be used when we were there. There was no lighting to see in at night and, when illuminated it was an unpleasant greenish color. When we drove up, the first thing we heard when we got out of the car was the sound of cows moo-ing. That never got less exciting. It was a nice place,"

"The Northern Lights cabin is a wonderful place to stay. Sitting in the lovely hot tub, looking through the glass walls around the deck - what an incredible view of the sky and the Icelandic countryside! There are great views from big windows inside the house as well. So much to take in. It's all very peaceful. The main house and guest cottage were both very clean and well stocked. We cooked a couple of dinners at home. The nearest restaurant was about 10 minutes away. You definitely need a vehicle and the roads are made of large pieces of gravel inside this very rural neighborhood. We rented a 4x4 vehicle but it wasn't necessary during the early October timeframe. It was nice to have 1.5 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms between the main cabin and guest cottage.Selfoss is the nearest town - about 20 minutes away. It has everything you could need there. Many shops and restaurants. Multiple large grocery stores. Also near the cabin is the Fridheimer tomato restaurant. Absolutely delicious! We ate there twice because it was so good.The Kerid Crater is very close - maybe a 10 minute drive. We were bummed to miss the Northern lights while we were there. But we really appreciated the quiet living and beautiful stars. Sigurjon was a helpful and responsive host. We had no problems while we were there but he was available to answer any questions. We highly recommend this amazing cabin."
