Das Bild zeigt einen Blick von der Urftstaumauer auf den Urftsee im Nationalpark Eifel. – Der Nationalpark repräsentiert die für die nördliche Eifel typischen natürlichen und naturnahen Lebensräume und Lebensgemeinschaften auf bodensauren Standorten von der kollinen bis zur montanen Höhenstufe zwischen 200 m und 600 m. Dies sind insbesondere unterschiedliche Laubwälder, Quellgebiete, Fließgewässer, Offenlandbiotope und Felsbildungen. Die größten Flächenanteile wurden zuvor militärisch verwaltet durch die belgischen Streitkräfte genutzt.
